I think the Acupuncture will work! It will still take some doing, and I have more weight to lose, but the process is working...

With the aid of a Red Bull, I managed to not fall asleep in HIST137 today, which is good since it's a great class.

That being said, I hate Red Bull. Maybe I should just do that thing where they sleep earlier...

Energy drinks are horrible (and their wonderful effects probably largely placebo, anyway :p ). Apparently juice is good for keeping awake - the 1.5 litres of grapefruit juice drunk for our last uni all-nighter tends to agree (though hardly a large enough study group to draw conclusions :p ). Chocolate is always fantastic too :)

Phew, for a second I thought you were going to say you like drinking Chuck Norris' piss.

Chuck Norris' piss is horrible. SoBe Arush, OTOH...

As for the effects... I slowed down my consumption of Jolt big time (like one can per week - Diet Pepsi is cheaper, and I'm a man with a budget), and I had one can of Blue Raspberry Jolt last Friday - never fell asleep. Caffeine is once again affecting me!

Are you referring to that new diet Pepsi Max? I tried it just because its a sugarless and has an energy kick and costs the same amount as a regular 2L of pop. Usually I'm not a Pepsi fan but the fact that they made that drink brought me over to their side for a bit. I guess that was a good marketing move on their part. I hope coke comes up with one.

I don't buy many of the other energy drinks because they are so frikin' expensive. One small can usually costs the same as 2 two litre bottles of regular pop.

Sounds pretty cool, especially with the hat. I almost got one once, but decided not to in the end. I vaguely regret it now, but I suppose I don't get much opportunity to wear one. Still, merely having one...

Wow....the shoot we had yesterday was amazing. The photographer drove us out of state to an old train yard from the early 1900's. Most of it was run down and boarded up, but the locomotive storage building (think Thomas the Train...complete with rotating platform and all) was awesome. Most of the windows had been busted, so there were cool sunbeams everywhere...and to enhance the effect, I set off a fire extinguisher high in the air. Once we get the photos back, I'll post them here....they're absolutely amazing, and I don't say that much.
Here's a Gmap photo of the area...the entire area is being renovated in to a museum and event center...so in a few month's time all the great photogenic spots will be torn down or renovated. :bad: :rolling:

In the area of country where my mother lives there are a lot of old abandoned log houses. Many of them still have old items in them. I would say that the majority of those houses were abandoned in the early 30's or 40's. A few times that I went up to visit her I traveled around the area and took photos. Some of the places felt really creepy because of the items left behind. One house had a wall inside a missing front door and it was hanging with a whole bunch of moldy old coats. When you walked into the next room there was a huge hole in the floor and old jars of lard scattered everywhere. The photos I took of that place were fantastic. I also loved the quality of light in odd spots because of holes in the roofs and walls.

@ Kitrax - I know what you mean about how beautiful old broken down places can be.

Kitrax: That sounds like a very interesting place.

Talking of old houses... My great grandmother's house in the village had leaned to one side and was becoming so unstable, that regretfully, the family decided to have it torn down. They took all the old and wonderful stuff out (furniture, cupboards, old cups, tiny pillows, wool processing tools...) but they weren't thorough enough, because somehow, a lovely glass vial got forgotten inside (maybe in some attic corner or on a beam...). The vial miraculously survived the demolition undamaged and I stumbled upon it in the rubble.

The house looked something like this , but it's veranda was further from the ground (imagine adding a strech of wall beneath and a longer staircase).

For the benefit of the one or two people who might have noticed my absence, I'm back after a 2 week vacation.

Who said vacations are supposed to be rejuvenating?

Utah (used) to have several old mining towns that became awesome ghost towns...but many of them have a habit of being covered up. I know of three that are at the bottom of reservoirs, and one is under a mountain...seriously, the old Bingham city (and several other small towns) is under a mountain of overburden from the Kennecott Copper Mine. Take a look at this pic...the towns used to be under that dark brown area (and a bit to the north and south) in the lower left corner of the picture.

I always feel like I need a vacation after the vacation...there's just so much to do and so many places to see that you never get a second of relaxation. :bad: :rolling:

    Welcome back, Splunge.

ION, the trip to Slovenia is in two days and I'm already getting a bit nervous... which always happens when I'm supposed to travel away to a vacation, not sure why. Not to mention that there are suitcases to pack...
