I, alas, have consumed ham. Am consuming ham. Will be consuming ham. One of my friends gives me a spiral sliced ham every year to take home to the family, but I'm not visiting my family this year. It takes one person a long time to eat a 12 pound ham. I foresee a future in the freezer for this pork.

I think ham has a little more staying power than turkey though. The flavour of ham is good in eggs, a background for soup, sandwiches, casseroles ... The flavour of turkey is great when you first have it out of the oven but the joy wears out fast.

I find few things as enjoyable as cold turkey and barbecue sauce, pity that we went to someone else's place for dinner :(

    Well, yes.

True, Dfly. But I do feel a little desperate looking at the size of the thing.

Meanwhile it continues unseasonably warm here, though it should be back to normal tomorrow.

Grandpa just died. Old bastard slept in quietly. At least I got to see him one last time for Christmas though, and I'm happy for him that he didn't go completely senile before his end, he was a proud man and would have hated that. Poor grandma though, she's going to miss him a lot, they were married for over 50 years.

Sorry about your grandpa Oli....at least he went during his sleep...probably the best way to go.

In other news, I got all 9 of the "Battlefield" games for Xmas, and since I finished Mass Effect for the 2nd time last night, I'm going to play all of them in order. The 4 Battlefield 1942 games take up 8 CDs...not sure why they didn't just put them all on a single DVD.... :hmm:

At least he went quietly and with dignity, Oli.

As for me, I still haven't had the courage to check my weight since the 24th...

My condolences to you and your family Oli. It might sounds harsh and I don't want to look like I'm insensitive. But death is inevitable, albeit always tragic, and at least he died in his sleep and, as you said, with his full wits, that's more than some person can aspire to. Still, the loss of a loved one is always painful and I can relate to the loss of a grandfather. In a sense, death is a reminder of life -- when someone you care for dies, it reminds you of your own life and that yours, and those of your family and friends, continues. When death strikes I try to remember that I still live, and that it would be a shame to waste it.

    In short; memento vitae!

Although sad, when the elderly die at least you know that they had their chance to live their full life. My condolences Olimikrig.

I am so deeply tired right now I could sleep through a hurricane of active jackhammers. That is what happens when the stress of the holidays takes its toll.

Thanks for the comments on my pics Lore and Rev. :)

Regarding cold feet, I actually went for a long walk this afternoon and my feet didn't get cold, thanks to the extra warm running socks my sister gave me for Christmas. I know, socks for Christmas, but these are very cozy.

And I haven't solved the slipper problem, either, Kitrax. I have very warm and rather drafty ones. I don't like sweaty feet any more than cold feet. And the wonderful new socks are too expensive to be padding around the house in. What to do? The eternal question.
