I can be happy without sleep. It's the waking up at 7am with only 5 hours of sleep that's getting to me ;).

    Try my 3 step approach.

    1. Don't drink any caffeine for 4-5 hours prior to going to bed.
    2. Take a 25mg tablet of Diphenhydramine or Doxylamine (two common antihistamines that cause drowsiness) as well as a 3-6mg tablet of Melatonin supplement. All 3 are O-T-C drugs you can get for only a few $$ each.
    3. Have sex right before bed. Besides making you physically tired (if you do it right), sex releases endorphins in your brain that make you feel all warm and fuzzy, as well as sleepy.

If that 3-step program doesn't work for you, it's time to step up to the big boys and get a prescription for Ambien, Lunesta, or better yet, Rozerem. Now....if none of those work, well....then it's time to get a rag and a bottle of Chloroform! :shake:

Waking up at 7am with *any* amount of sleep is a cruel and unusual punishment to me... :shake:
5am, 8am, even 1am (on RP nights) - I can wake up just fine for any of those, on most nights, but when the alarm clock starts buzzing at 7am I could feed it to the fish. Preferably mechanical piranha fish with titanium jaws...

It feels a bit odd to be awake and kickin' at 8 in the morning. It'a amazing how fast my system ditched the night shift lifestyle.

Not drinking caffeine before heading to sleep is BS. Hell, I could guzzle energy drinks like an idiot and I'd still sleep so hard that not even a pack of Mustangs tromping right next to my room would have woke me up.

And flix, as for woman, things have gone uphill since I started just not giving a F. The more you don't give a F about them, the harder they pursue you. If only they weren't involved with friends of mine...

    Some sad news...

I found out last night that my cat, which I've had since I was 10-ish, has been put down. I'm am saddened and angered by the news. I knew she was old, and her time was coming soon...but what pisses me off is how she went.

She had been living at my parent's house since Jessica and I moved out several years ago, and recently, my brother and his wife moved back in with them. My parents have been in CA for the past 6 weeks, and *apparently* my cat was drooling, limping, and acting ill, so my brother took her to the vet. Apparently she was suffering from kidney failure and didn't have much time left, so my brother had her put down.

That's understandable...so long as that is exactly what happened.

*However*, this all happened last week...and I just barely found out about it last night by my mom, who didn't find out until several days later. My a**hole of a brother *never* bothered to tell me that he okayed the death of my cat. All it would have taken was a call, and I would have dropped everything and rushed over to be with her during her last moments. I was robbed of my closure...and because of that, I am infuriated! :flaming:

    RIP Mittens

That sucks: :( I had a cat that looked very much like that (well, sans the hat) a few years ago, so I can sympathise.

I feel for you, Kitrax. Ten years old is not old for a cat. We had to put down one of our two cats 2 years ago, and he was only 10. He was having serious problems, and had gone into surgery, but didn't come out of the anesthesia. We were by his side at the end, and I don't know if he knew that we were there, but we wouldn't have had it any other way.

As I said, it's been two years, but the memories that this post is bringing back is also bringing some serious tears to my eyes. And yet, I'm glad we were able to say goodbye, so I understand completely why you're missing that sense of closure.

Sorry to hear that kitrax, losing an animal friend(heck with calling them a pet, as they are more than that) is rough.
Best of luck on not taking it out on your brother.

My cat was about 14 years old (had him since I was too) and was having problems. He lost a bunch of weight and his hair was falling out, so we knew the end was near... Then one day he just disappeared, and we never found a body or anything.

Coincidentally our old Dodge Van that we had for 15 years at a time disappeared the same day... and it took a lot of convincing for me to believe the cat wasn't in it when it got towed.

I'm genuinely sorry for your loss, Kit, and especially for the 'how' aspect of it.

When my old cat was old (16 years) and got sick (she had - what else - kidney failure) we didn't put her down for a week to allow my sister to be present, who was on a holiday then. She would never have forgiven us had the cat been gone on her return. That was a good decision, even though it was hard on my cat. It was heartbreaking to see that dear old cat in such a miserable state. I held her when she was put down. I buried her. It still saddens me, but at least I was with her and was able to give farewell, rather than having to accept the fact of her being gone.

:( I am sorry Kit, that is really rough. That was very inconsiderate (to keep it polite) of your brother, cats (and all pets) can end up meaning as much to people as other people do.

Damn Kit, that sucks. It's horrible when a pet dies, but for it to happen without you even knowing... Bah, that's just sucky.
