And we fall once again into the gutter...I feel sometimes that our Random Babbling can be likened to the stumbling home of a drunk man, slowly plodding along, but every now and then he finds his altitude dropping sharply and awakens with his head in the gutter once more...poetic one might say...pathetic others cry...perfectly phosphorescent say I.

In other, fantastic, news.... DA:O CE came today!

I can't wait to install it tonight! I'm taking Jessica out to dinner for her B-Day, so after eating ribs and hopefully some extracurricular bedroom activities, I'll being playing Dragon Age 'till 7am tomorrow!

 

Do the old turkey and wine trick to get her to sleep so you can play the game in peace...

See...that's how I differ from you uber-geeks. While I really, really, reeeeeeaaaaaallllly wanted to play DA, food and sex is a one-two punch that I'm never going to turn down for any game.

Anyhoo...I had my awesome meal, spent some *quallity* time with Jessica, and once I spooned her in to a coma, I spent 7 hours straight playing DA!

 

Haha, sounds like something I would do.

Le sigh, this vacation isn't going to much of a break at all... lots of work to do.

 

I am NOT a happy camper right now!

A while back I posted that I had a problem with my foot, my doctor suspected a fracture and sent me for an x-ray. However, the hospital told me that it take them a week after doing the x-ray to tell me if I had a broken foot.

Now I'm having another problem with the same damn place!

I got referred to their ENT department because I appear to have an adults version of glue ear and it's starting to affect my hearing. I got the appointment pretty quickly but had to cancel it because I had swine 'flu. I was told that I would be contacted with another appointment.

Well, I haven't heard anything since June from them and had pretty much forgotten about it until I went to the doctors today with what I thought was an ear infection. The doctor thinks that it's actually the old problem that has been irratated because of me having a cold and flying.

So, I got back in touch with the hospital....reception put me through to audiology, they then put me through to ENT, they put me through to central appointments who then told me to phone my GP!! Luckily the woman at my GP's office is used to dealing with these people and has said she will make the appointment for me!

Just when I am about to fall asleep in lectures, they bring up hysteresis curves (Effect = f (Concentration) in PK/PD modeling, cases of tolerance and delayed effect) with time flowing on an "invisible axis".

It was like capturing the shadow of time flow on the plane determined by E-C grid!

Sometimes, life is great... even when they schedule tests for Friday nights.

I'm currently in Munich visiting a dear friend.

Before I left I wanted to check my e-mail and learned that my thus far surviving HDD had died also. I wasn't really surprised. My initial reaction was: Finally. Well, it isn't recognised as a device anymore, just like with its twin then, when it failed. Which means, I'll have to send that one in, too, to get it replaced (which will be unproblematic, Seagate has a good service). Alas, faithfully, I yesterday made a back-up of my saves and chars from Borderlands and Dragon Age, so all I lost are the screenshots that I wanted to send to Tal.

Now I need to decide on whether it does make sense to wait for the SSD to eventually arrive, or to buy another drive - which in that case would need to be large-ish storage drive. Means it will be probably a 1TB-ish Western Digital Green or Samsung F1 or F3? Don't know yet. And then, I've seen a 500GB Western Digital Green for 43 Euros, which would be the least expensive option. Opinions?

I'm jealous! I know to you, it's the same as me driving to Las Vegas...but I'm still jealous that you get to go to Munich and I can't.

There was an incident at Kevs' work where the guy threatened him and said he knew where he lived. After that the guy was banned from all GWs and events run by the company, he ignored the ban and refused to leave a tournament on the first day, the second day the person supposed to be enforcing the ban said "I didn't bother because I didn't think it was that important" so Head Office was called and he was escorted off the premises. Half an hour after that the flat gets egged while I am sat next to the window and I see him running off.

When Kev called the police on Saturday nobody even logged the call! Head Office told him to call again which is why this has been brought up now

I better start tidying.

 

Well...the nut-job clearly knows where you guys live. Those anti-gun laws you guys have must really suck right about now.

 

I'm really not a fan of violence. I saw a lot growing up and am just repulsed by it generally.

The little brat that did this is a short, weak, egotistical fool who would fold so quickly in a fight it wouldn't be funny. Kev spend most of his life growing up learning martial arts and fighting techniques.

I'm worried the chav will try and start something, Kev could easily get into trouble if the guy gets hurt and could lose his job.

All this over toy soldiers as well

 

I don't know about the UK but over here if you're a hunter you can have a gun in your home.

That being said most people don't want to be in a situation in which they'd have to use a firearm and actually shoot someone. Guns being used as deterrents is certainly a subject for the Alley.

@8people: that situation sucks but violence won't help for obvious reasons. If you hit a kid you can definitely get into a lot of trouble (hitting anyone is bad enough but that is much worse when kids are involved). A police officer should have a chat with the parents so that the kid realizes that charges can be pressed and that eventually his parents are liable for his actions. Unless the kid has serious problems that should help getting things back to normal.
