I am feeling perky, restless, and am being blocked.... shouls probably start writing out of sequence...

 

I was up until 1:30am playing in ALFA. It was my first time back in over a year!! I kinda missed it.

 

The hard drive on my work notebook started giving an imminent failure warning over the week-end - I managed to back everything up but it has now given up the ghost so I am stuck using an old junker computer at work.

My God this thing is slow.

Also, it is missing its enter key! Hmm, having to directly hit the little white plastic thingee is actually pretty weird.

 

Lots of booze and some beer over weekened, a couple of coffees for a good beginning of the new week. Do I feel good. I feel like owning some, so perhaps I had better go to battle.net now. Must... must... conquer something.

 

How about conquering your addiction and stop drinking coffee?

Someone please kill me now?

@ Takara - I was driving home on Saturday and I was admiring the rather nice looking Lexus in front of me. I looked at the license plate and it read "Takara 1". If I see it again would you like me to pull a Grand Theft Auto number on it and send it to you?

How strange, I spoke to the manufacturer's technical/warranty support about my laptop and they have informed me that they will ship me a new hard drive tomorrow. I would have thought that they would want to check my current one before they replaced it.

Oh well, you wont see me complaining about it. The sooner I am done with this clunker the happier I will be.

i am pretty sure that after 42K of "build-up" it is time to make Rafe start his dastardly stalkery plan... go me.

 

That's not quite unreasonable. Laptops aren't cheap stuff, so a satisfied customer is worth having. If the harddrive isn't damaged beyond recovery, they can always put it to some use, like charity or their own offices.

 

I have to write an 8-16 page essay on Egyptian archaeology for next week. Fun? Free time? What are these foreign concepts?

 

That's not odd at all. It saves them shipping cost. When they send your new hard drive, there will probably be instructions to use the shipping box to send them your old (broken) hard drive. They cover the cost to ship it back to them, and once they get it, they’ll tinker with the HD until they can get it to work again. Once working again, they'll erase everything on it, but not before they copy your entire porn collection to their computers. Once it is clean, and tested, they'll turn around and sell it as "refurbished".

 

I known that it makes SENSE for them to just ship me the new hard drive, it is just strange considering in the past they have always had me ship them any computer that required warranty repairs.

I swear, the cheap construction and lack of quality control on portables these days is unreal. I have had warranty claims within the one year period on four of the seven computers that my office has purchased this year. Two repairs each for Compaq and Toshiba. Two of those repairs were within a week of purchase (faulty screens - one from each manufacturer). Maybe I should consider recommending IBM thinkpads from now on.

Wait a second, as of December 1st this is someone else's problem.
