Yeah, summer solstice. Supposedly the longest, sunniest day of the year but it's so dark and cloudy, it might as well be winter!

Well I hinted to my older brother with more disposable funds at hand that our mother would probably like a DVD player for christmas and he went and bought one today. I told him I couldn't pitch in a lot of money for it so he told me that I should just get her a movie. I was thinking of buying her "I Robot" because she's a sci-fi fan and she read the Asimov original series.

Now all I have to do is scrape up enough cash to buy my husband his hand-crank emergency radio and I should be done my shopping.

Dragonfly -- took your advice and went and got some heavy duty gloves with Thinsulate! They don't work for typing though -- one glove finger covers 3 keys. :D

Spelly, maybe you could find some professional wrestlers to give you some advice on the matter. I think that their hands normally would be about the size of yours with Thinsulate gloves on. Surely some wrestlers must have a love for the keyboard.

I'm glad we have a wood furnace to keep our house warm. I can survive without my gloves while I'm typing...

    @Slayer:
You don't use explosives, that'll waste the penguin meat. What you do is take a pepper shaker, find somewhere penguins always walk past and shake somepepper over a nearby rock, then wait for one to walk past, sniff the rock, sneeze and knock itself out. Then start picking them up. :thumb:

Anyway, my new female friend has gone bonkers on me already, time to get a new one I think.

Lol...I just bought another present for my g/f...this time it's a girl's tee that says: "I (heart) my geek!"

I couldn't resist...it was either that, or a shirt that said, "+20 Shirt of Smiting"...I really wanted to get her that one, but it would make a lot more sense if it said, "Shirt of Smiting +20". :rolling:

@Jag: Watch TV, how will you live withyourself if you miss out on all the cool movies that are being shown around the holidays! Bring on the Disney!

@Arab: You can write AND clean! You seen what Broken Sword does with that mop in the movie "Hero"? OK so you can't fit 3000 words on your kitchen floor but it wasnt a bad idea...

@Kit: Where abouts could you get a shirt like that? I've always wanted to buy a shirt slightly D&D ish!

Just got back from the canteen, Ive abandoned the :coffee: and switched to a small breakfast (tomatoes, sausage, bacon, hash browns, fried egg and a slice of brown toast) which has filled a whole and warmed me up a treat. Time to do some work... that is if I remember how to do my job, maybe I should go work at Mcy D's and serve burger and fries all day long... mmMMmmmm fries...

[IMG] Freezing cold here. The rear wheel of my bike slipped on black ice yesterday and I found myself on the ground... today I have a very sore backside, and having to sit all day long does not help.

    ...ouch...

/me thinks we should stand and fight against our comon enemy the black ice

I would avoid the bike altogther in this weather, I live on a very big hill and I've already witnessed first hand the awesom destructive power black ice can do to ones rear end when uncontrollable executing a 180 sumasult and dismounting bum first on to the concreate :rolling: :bang: :(

Sleep is good. I've been getting a lot of sleep these past few days. I love being on vacation from school.

Of course, I get to put up with the family thing, but I think that there will be enough  around to keep me happy this Christmas.

@Slayer of the Coast, I found that shirt at ThinkGeek.com. Good site...their 'dispair' line of posters really makes me laugh. :thumb:

Ack! For once I'm out of bed before my g/f! I'm glad that the winter solstice has finally come...now the sun can start gettinh back to where it belongs in the sky...which is out of view of my bedroom window in the mornings! :rolling:

I'm surprisingly relaxed today. I've had a glass of port, and I'm failing to find out what feathers on winged sandals look like. I also just had to type the word 'sandals' four times to get it right. Perhaps I need to wind myself up again...
