hmm, I wish that instead of spending on beer (which is ridiculously overpriced now since that "vice tax") as I did last night, I'd saved my local equivalent of 10USD and just spent it on sushi buffet tonight :sosad:

Aroud here $10 is about 2 or 3 beers in a pub and the taxes on alcohol were just recently lowered.

Ach, I didn't get the position I was interviewed for last week. At least I can meet the manager and get some good feedback (and a free cup of coffee :D )

I still don't understand what this modern culture class is. Why don't they teach normal stuff at school any more, like trigonometry, the periodic table, and the correct use of the apostrophe?

    Political correctness, of course.

Christian religion is offensive to some non-Christians who resent having to study someone else's faith.

Trigonometry is offensive to planar shapes who resent being the subject of voyeurism and frank comments on their curves and acute angles.

Periodic tables are offensive to periods 8 through infinity who feel alienated and discriminated against, and will be reinserted into the table over the next few years in Labour's Element Reintegration Scheme for Minority Chemicals.

The study of correct use of the apostrophe is offensive to fool's who cant use apostrophe's.

Trigonometry and Periodic table: Well what do you think Maths is for? Teaching spanish?

Correct use of apostrophe: Well, English isn't my native language and the english class they teach us are a laugh to any native english speakers. Maybe you won't believe me but I'm the first or second in english in the entire school for my level.

Anyway I always had problem with <<'s>> and the tough, thought, and tought difference.

Sorry my thirst for catholism was quenched a long time ago.

    Ofelix -

My (and probably HB's) apostrophe comments weren't at you in particular. In fact, your apostrophes have been perfect - we're just generally annoyed at others who don't seem to even want to learn.

English is very tricky to learn if not taught well, and you've got it to a better (written) level than a considerable number of native speakers - it's a great language for illogicalities. It's also a good language for silly words like 'illogicalities.'

Also, considering it's a second language, very nice use of "quenched." ;)

My apostrophe comments were completely random, as befits all posts in this aptly named thread.

Hooray, I have not smoked for 5 days! I guess the worst is over but it didn't seem that hard this time around. Longest time I have gone without nicotine but I still feel like I want to smoke, slightly. I somehow know I won't though. I haven't drank, taken drugs, or done anything really unhealthy for around a month now. I have eaten nothing but healthy organic food at home and I drink **** loads of water every day. You know, I don't feel any god damn different than 6 months ago when I was living hardcore unhealthily. :toofar: Where is all this extra energy and feeling betterness? I hope it kicks in soon

Well good work Sarevok, stoping smoking is always a good thing! And it's worth it too.

Good Luck Jaguar. Seriously having a job can get tricky sometimes

    @Rhetorical Question?
Is that so? I find it is realy easy and absouletely not tricky. Perhaps a little things or two but in general the rules are quite simple to follow. Nay you haven't see the horror of French's grammar.

All my teachers said I had a incredible vocublary in english (and french for that matter) but I don't think it is that marvelous.

    `

My bads then, I still think that many posts regarding misrespect for english is always aimed directly to me. Maybe I think I am not good enough to be fully able to write in an all english board. It's not the first time I got good comment on my writting abilities, however I think my mind don't get the message. Damn you my brain!

Didn't I say earlier in this thread (or maybe the last one), that one language isn't supposed to make sense to people that aren't native speakers? Hell, English doesn't make sence to native English speakers...

Anything resembling correct grammar on my part is purely accidental.

How come the clingy women cling to other people? Just once, I'd like to see one cling to me...
