    My beer is no more and the sun's already sort of up. Guess I'd better go where the cat is and get some sleep too.

    @chev:
    Usually they can retrieve the CD-key from your original installation. It's stored in the computer when you input it, so they can easily get it, write it down, and use it when they re-install Windows with their own CD. The individual CDs aren't linked to individual CD-keys, so as long as you have a unique key, you're fine. I agree that it does look illegal, but I don't think Microsoft has a big problem with it.

    @Dragonfly:
    Nice poll. :thumb: Sorry for the long post, but I had a lot to say.

    Well thanks a lot Magpie. With that little link you posted, I had to go and read every single one of those DMFA comics.

    Not bad once the artist started with the colour.

    Damn it has been a long time, and it wpould take some time after this...

    But I'm still alive :p . The reason why I wasn;t here is because of the fact that my comp is flipping. I get lots of error messages and the system is crashing all the time. I go to the store for a new computer today and I hope I'm able to post more when I get it...

    @chev, ofelix, fell: Yep, it's legal with M$ - OS images are usually already on your hard drive - sometimes the...'provider' doesn't even need a CD anymore (it's why the don't bother giving you one, supposedly)

    I'd check with a friend who's savvy in this field to see if you already have XP imaged on your HD, Ofelix - you may be able to save the $50 service fee.

    And do you have a cd or dvd burner on that system? Reformat/reinstall OS would wipe your data...unless you back it up...

    I *finally* stayed up last night 'til 2.30a NST tp bake oatmeal cookies. I figured, hey, people'll be asleep and I can hog that shortened counter space. :lol: In the middle of baking, somebody decided to poke their head in the kitchen. I can't get away from them!

    I miss Iowa. :( The guys at the grocery store used to shape the ground beef to look like a piggy.
