You know Cúchulainn there was quite a few Irish immigrant in Canada in the 1800s. I'm not surprised at all. Of course I did study the history of my country and you didn't.

 

The reason I was surprised was that no-one speaks Irish in the US, even in Boston.

When I was in Crete a while back, quite a few of the locals (cafe and restaurant owners) could speak Irish. I was very impressed.

 

As long as there's sheesha and caffeine, why not.

In other news I am going to spend today watching Australia thrash England in the Ashes.

 

I prefer to encourage the efforts of the open-source community rather than encouraging the nazi of the computer world. Billy ain't squeezing one more penny out of me.

 

It's curious how sometimes being ill can actually feel you better. No, not actually like better than if you weren't ill, but you aren't expected to perform at full speed and even more. You can take a bit of rest and, well, you have to. You just realise that life isn't coming to an end just because you mostly feel like sleeping and it's the only thing that seems to come out well - if at all. You just peacefully learn to take time and pick up the box of pills you've just dropped and you know you can't really help the fact you'll spill or drop something else yet. So you basically smile, nod and go on. You stop and smell the roses. Well, not exactly smell, because your nose is probably clogged, but you can take time and make yourself your favourite tea, or something nice and new, instead of the simple no-brainer for which you remember the cupboard-kettle-cup-mouth-sink finger sequence rather than any mental process. So, you can basically show yourself some compassion. And take time to taste that tea, as well, and think it's quite good. And then you can go to bed after some little procrastination, realising that work has to wait a day or two more because you won't quite do it right, and intense gaming is not quite for your head, while killing stuff that lives is not quite what you need in your current ill state. So you will just smile and finish that tea and go to bed.

My youngest nephew (11 mo.) got the latest "tickle me elmo" and it scares the sh*t out of him...kinda makes me uneasy too - it's almost obscene the way it gyrates.
