We finally booked a time to do the CPR course. We have to meet up at central station at 8:20am though. I don't even want to think about how early I'm gonna have to wake up. >.<

I just wanted to say that because, compared to the utter chaos that is going on at a certain other gaming site at the moment over a supposed April Fools joke, SP continues to be a haven of good sense.

You can't just leave us hanging HB - give us details. What happened on the other site? If you can't write it here PM me - I have a horrible curiosity.

 

I am taking a mental health day. Don't tell. But instead of attending to my mental health I am doing the laundry and cleaning the bathroom. The underwear situation had become serious and the bathroom was greening up with the trees well maybe not quite that bad but gotta clean it.

Also I am aging. Oh, well. As they used to say in Vermont to the query "How are you?" - I'm still this side the dirt.

 

Sigh, I am back to work after my vacation last week and my contact for the audit I started this morning has not shown up yet. As a result me and two colleagues basically have not been able to even get started working on the audit yet.

I must say that a week of sitting around idle was kind of fun and refreshing but any more would have started to get boring.

 

Whazzitnow, two weeks 'til the great flight...Over the oceans, high above the mountains, to the edge of the world, to the other side of the world, to the last continent...

I hate waiting for return calls. How much time should pass between my first call and a second? When is it badgering instead of insisting?

I'm spending my Easter break with dystopias in all forms and sizes. And it's actually interesting.

Remember the drug addict I told you about months ago? The one who robbed a 96 years old woman who died later in hospital? I was asked to keep some of you informed.
There is a verdict: 6 years in prison.
There is a lot more to tell, but I am too tired atm to do so.

The only April fools joke I know of on the net was the "Air Strike" in Urben Dead. I felt realy stupid for clicking on the link...

 

I said, "Get your behind to a doctor!"

I actually used a French idiom correctly.

 

@Kuemper, re the wait on return calls, my patience span depends on the kind of call - to my doctor I expect a call back by mid-afternoon, so I can still go to the pharmacy if necessary. A work colleague I will give about three hours for routine stuff. For urgent things I aggressively track them down by cell phone or in person. But nieces and nephews and disorganized family members get a couple of days.

So, depends on what kind of call it is and who you're waiting for.

I was not as much more fun today as I should have been, given that I now have another year aboard. Must check on that fun-production hormone when I go in for my annual physical. Seems a bit low.

 

Think of any other gaming site that is badly run (e.g. has big flashy signatures and loads of off-topic spam). And then imagine that Taluntain announced that SP would be merging with that site, to create a new site called “Magician’s Gate” or something. And that the new site would require you to pay a fee for downloading walkthroughs and custom characters. And imagine that when everyone scoffed “Bah! That’s just an April Fool’s joke” that you were directed to the new site complete with logos and endorsement from the administrator of the other site we were merging with. And imagine that in the days leading up to 1 April, there had been all sorts of murmurs of discontent from Chevalier, such that he was claiming to be leaving SP due to an undisclosed dispute and was about to set up his own site called “Chevalier’s Role Playing Gauntlet” or CRPG for short. And that if you went to that site, you would see that he really had set that up too. And imagine how distressed you would be that SP would be no more. What would you do with your life?

Well, that is what happened at this other site. In hindsight, it was hilarious and hats off to all the hard work that went into it. But, the knives and personal politics and protests that came out before the hoax was revealed got quite cutting at times.
