This lack of internet is killing me.

In other news, I have one more exam before a three day weekend. It's not all bad

Okay, well I'm back from the specialist. There's nothing physically wrong with my ears or sinuses, etc. For detection ('raise your hand when you hear the tone'), my hearing is slightly better than average for my age. :skeptic:

So mechanically, my hearing is just fine.

As for the other half of the hearing test ('repeat these words after me') I did have only average scoring, but nothing notably bad.

The doctor assured me that this is good, as there's nothing that requires surgery to remedy (one possibility I had NOT contemplated :mommy: )

This does, however, mean that the issue is more with comprehension - i.e. neurological; he didn't rule out my conjecture that my brain isn't filtering sounds and 'translating into speech' as well as it could be. He did also confirm that IF this is the case (he's an ENT doctor, not a neurologist) there isn't any way of treating it with the state of medicine today. :bad:

I'd ALSO suddenly discovered that my family has a history of this very issue. :grr: When giving me a lift over to the doctor, my father mentioned he had the same sort of problem when he was younger - difficulty hearing the teacher over the class, etc. So it's probably even hereditary.

My biggest hope is that noticing this problem more in the last six months or so is the result of me working in a busy, noisy workplace; essentially for the first time - I've really had a quiet (hah :p ) life; and not an actual progressive condition.

So I'm guardedly optimistic that maybe I can adapt (and also learn to twist my head like an owl so I can see the customer behind me faintly calling for service :D )

Also on the health front, I'd actually caught a *cold* over the weekend (went out in that same hot, sunny weather kuemper got a sunburn from, and ended up overcompensating with cold drinks, fan blowing DIRECTLY on me, etc) so I'm feeling rather blah right now.

On the plus side, my wife was very kind and comforting and pampered me with grilled cheese sandwiches and rich, creamy tomato soup for lunch before the appointment. :yum:

Hot food really makes you feel better when you're almost over a cold, or the like... :)

    Back again! :D

Too much to say but here's the basics:

I'm now the go-to guy at work in any situation

Finally got my own place (owned by my work)

Got 5 women wanting me

Had a cat for 3 weeks til she broke her leg last Tuesday and had to be put down :wail:

Getting crushed by a couple of large debts due to idiot housemates being financially lazy :bang:

But all-in-all, things are great

It rained today. All day. YAY!!!! maybe the smoke smell will finally die down some now. I am now to the point where my brain doesn't even register the smoke smell.

Tomorrow I take the second half of my A+ certification. Wish me luck!

I cleaned the toilet this morning. Living with two boys in the house makes for alot of spillage.

Okay, so I wans't past the worst of this cold as of last night, like a thought. :(

Got up, and felt a little yucky; cough resulting in hacking to remove phelgm from lungs, as is expected, but the shower...

It should have helped - instead I spent the entire time kneeling on the floor of the stall trying to hork up a lung. :bad:

My throat felt beyond raw - I was expecting to see the spittle flecked with pink. (thnak goodness it wasn't.

When I called wotrk to let them knw I wouldn't be in, I could bearly believe my woice was so raspy and deep. :whoa:

ANYWAYS, I'm just poppibng in to clear the song quote game, and wish people well (yay for stefanina!) before going back to bed - after a nap I may crack open a novel or something.

As always my godesnd of a spouse is being wonderful for me.

C'ya lat- no, wait; the inner geek in me can't leave without saing it:

Montresor, they're called hyperlinks on the World Wide Web because they are redirection triggerts withing the HyperText Markup Language (HTML, 'member?). :square:

jaded empath certainly got the 'babbling' part of random babbling down well... :p

Feel better man, colds suck. When I get them they are huge... like, they last 2 weeks and I can barely breathe/swallow because of the congestion/pain. So I am empathetic to your condition, good luck getting over it quickly.

    Girls smell good.

That's the reason I always record my singing when I'm sick. The other way is to drink Jack Daniels every day for 30 years, man and boy.

Jaded, ugh, hate it you're sick. The hearing info is mildly good, though, since it suggests you can make some adjustments to it.

    Work, yech.

Stefanina, yay rain! Shoo it up our way after you're through with it.

    Babble, etc.
