    I did

And yeah H2O2 shouldn't even be anywhere near the others. I mean you can buy it in pharmacies to disinfect wounds! Try to do THAT with NH4OH :shake:

We use 110% *PURE* H2SO4. :p It's process temp is 130 degrees C...and I have never smelled anything that "stinks".

Now...we used to have a really old wet deck...if you tried to drain the H2SO4 and NH4OH sinks at the same time, the smell from the drain would overpower anything and everything! Worst. Smell. EVAR!
We do...but it's a mix of nitric acid and some other stuff. I don't work in the area that uses it, so I don't know.
Yep...it attacks calcium in the blood and bone. 25 square inches is a bit much...I'd say you'd be dead with as little as 8-12 square inches.

Wait a minute....aren't you a chemist or some such? This is H2O2 30%.....not the 3% you buy at the pharmacy. If you were to stick your finger in H2O2 30% for a few seconds, you probably wouldn't have a finger anymore.
    So THERE! :p

    Never underestimate chemicals... :nono:

Like our chemistry teacher in highschool used to say, "All chemicals are edible. Some can be eaten more than once..." ;)

30% hydrogen peroxide is still relatively safe ... it will bleach your skin and hair pretty nicely if left on for a bit. When you start getting into the 70-90% hydrogen peroxide realm you can have problems.

    Chemistry page! Nice. :)

Going back to school tomorrow. Two exams, on Wednesday and Thursday, coming up and most likely very limited net access until Friday.
Good thing I don't have roommates.

I called in "sick of work" tonight so I could sleep for far too long and just relax before the weekend. I called my boss and said, "Hey Fun-Size*, I don't want to work tonight, so I'm not going to..." She said, "K..." and hung up.

That's one thing I like about my job...you don't have to make up excuses to get out of work. If you have the PPA time, you can use it when ever for what ever. :D

*When my "real" boss is gone, we have a backup boss of sorts. She's not even 5' tall, so we call her Fun-Size because she's so tiny, but fairly cool.

These next few weeks are going to be a lot of work - I have to film a scene from (500) Days of Summer, but most of the good actors at Tufts are too busy, so I am going to have to resort to mediocre actors... blah.

I just got reminded of a silly episode from my former job.

My old boss, apparently after having again read some inspirational 'how to improve your business' book, had the splendid idea to, in order to further improve our productivity, to place scent machines throughout our offices. Locations were probably chosen to comply with feng shui rules. Inevitably, he chose an odour coming from a liquid in his favourite colour, orange, so it would be in harmony with the stylish interior design of the company. It was meant to smell like apricot. It didn't.

Actually, it stank. Bestially. Everybody hated it. So the employees moved these stench-o-mats to locations where they wouldn't have to smell them. To place them under open windows was a very popular. Doggedly, my old boss returned them to their original place. And so it went for a couple weeks. Until some colleagues had enough of it. One evening they took all of them and placed them in his office. They didn't come back after that.

    I forcefully deny any involvement.

[IMG] Damnit I've missed uni again because of the weather :(

I can barely move and Kev is expecting to come home to a tidier flat as well. We've both just had the disappointing news of one of our friends can't come to see us for his birthday. She was looking forward to it and Kev was going to pay for her travel today, but she has family visiting. Gutted :(

    Muhahahaha!!!

My work put a online suggestion system on our intranet. I suggested that all maintenance techs should have company BlackBerrys instead of our crappy little txt pagers from 1990.

All the managment types have them, why not the techs? Some times we need to get ahold of them a.s.a.p. and they don't always answer their pages.

Note: this suggestion has *nothing* to do with the fact that I will be a maintenance tech by the end of this month....I swear! However, having a BB on me at all times with 100% service inside the fab would be sweet. A 16GB micro-SD card full of music and movies wouldn't hurt either. :p

Speaking of the new job, I start training my meal ticket next Wednesday.

Today's training is done. Interesting stuff to know, but my eyebrow is still raised as to WHY I got that training. I have a feeling there is more than meets the eye here, and that I very well could be tested and there is more than meets the eye here. I'm not in very good graces with the higher ups above my boss, and it's no secret I WANT a promotion... so I feel I could be given bits of training to test the waters. I know I've got my manager's favor for the promotion, but not the higher ups's, and it goes without saying they got final say in who gets the promotion or not. Looks like I'm going to have to scratch and claw and further prove myself. If that's what it takes, fine.
