Scot. I echo Elwithral. That was beautiful. If your aren't a professional writer you should be. You had me both crying and laughing. You caught Nakia's personality beautifully. "I can use it for a sling bullet" She has some thinking to do.

You also scare me. I've been thinking of a possible adventure when the others are taken care of involving taking Sepp and Gesard back to her home. Possibly involving some problem there. Haven't figured out what the problem is tho.

 

Sad and beautiful don't even apply in this case. What you wrote was textbook epic. We got some big shoes to fill now, and I only hope that Del's personality change and subsequent difficulties when she gets back (yes, she will be back) can measure up.

I'd say the drow brothers' nemesis is our most pressing issue. Yes, something evil is afoot in the halfling clan, don't know exactly what yet.

If Alexi ever comes back, or even if he doesn't, I think eventually it would be quite interesting for the group to have to go to Menzoberran to accomplish something. Certain members' experience there would be quite helpful.

Can't wait to find out what Maron's quest is.

Just in case any of you want to know what it is that's attacking us, so you can know what you can do to them or they to you, it is a group of five Type IV demons from AD+D 1st edition, which is what all my books are, don't know how they compare to later editions. Appearance as described in the post: vulture wings, boar's head, gorilla chest and arms, goat legs, 10 feet tall, HD 11, AC -1 (21 in 3ed?) attacks with fists, hooves and bite, powers: illusion, fear, levitate, dispel magic, project image, polymorph self, telekinese 5000 gp weight, gate, half damage to fire, electricity and gas. The grub of Pa is a larva that the demons used to locate Sepp and Gesed, they're being employed by the mind flayer Hui-trey to retrieve Delinos and Kelvados, so they might have something linking them to him if we manage to kill them. Happy hunting.

 

Let's let Prince Alexi rest in peace, and not be able to raise him. Makes sense, after all his heart was eaten by a demon, and a body can only go so long without a consciousness guiding it.

If Nicolas wants to come back and play Alexi, he can say that a wandering friar, or angel, or god, or whatever, found and raised him, or if he wants, he could come back as some form of undead, maybe a Revenant, looking for his heart.

 

Cool - a real character death. Way to up the ante.

 

And Black wasn't a character? He had as much if not more personality than Alexi. My quest book is still crying over that.

Well, technically a mind flayer isn't a demon per se, and it's the brain that houses (or links to) the consciousness. But not having a heart does make it pretty impossible to raise someone. All Raise Dead or Resurrection do is return the spark of life. Poison or similar ailments (like missing vital organs) have to be cured prior to raising, and I'm not sure where we're going to find another functional (and blood type compatible) heart just lying around.

P.S. I didn't want to do a one-hit kill on such an important bad guy, so I'm leaving it up to whoever posts next to determine quite how successful Del is with her charge.

Just to make clear, the bad guy that ate Alexi's heart and is now going for seconds on Sepp is the lead type IV demon from the earlier attack, not the mind flayer, who must have been waiting on the outskirts and got hit by Del's arrows. Plus, there are bound to be some of the other demons around, and who knows how many of their friends they brought with them, or back up assassins the mind flayer has.

Let's rock!

Well, now that it's just me against the flayer somewhere in the back, it looks like I'll have to come up with some more combat and edit it in. But first, dinner!

Ok, my post has Huiy'Trej disappearing but that doesn't mean he won't be back and with something interesting. Anything anyone feels like doing.

 

Alright! Finally we've found a foe that Jex can't wade through! Maybe somebody better help out though, we don't all want to end up as demon fodder.

 

Done and done. Hope nobody minds. Sepp gets the kill though.

I know how Harbourboy feels. This thread has moved so fast I had to reread the last few posts to make sure what I posted fit.

That last smilie means 'smashing' which is or was used as slang to mean 'really great'.

 

Yeah, sorry for any overload people had, especially HB over there on the other side of the world, but we'd been silent for days and days and there was a bunch of stuff that just needed to get out.

Though Sepp wouldn't think to, somebody should examine some of the six blades that the marilith was using, I'm sure at least one of them would be worth keeping for someone.

Way ahead of you, buddy; did that a few hours ago. Didn't see any reason to post, though, so you'll have to look back a little ways for the thread.

 

I've added a bit to Nakia's character sheet. Nothing important. Sorry I've not been around but have been sick and not up to much.
