RC: A Passage to Yartar

Majikus stows the bottle in his pack and decides to look for Xalen. Upon finding Xalen he asks him a number of questions...

"Xalen, we now set off from this place but pray tell me what you plan to do upon reaching Waterdeep? And will you be returning to challenge that Er-Cam bloke? And if yee would be so kind, may i offer my assistance on yee travels? Me thinks that we would make a good team..."

Ooc: Majikus has refreshed his spells with 2 Magic Missiles spells and 1 Burning hands spell (I forgot to mention them way back at the inn when we returned from the 'gem' encounter...If you don't like it then my character will memorize these spells when he is resting on the barge.

 

Kitiara was making her way down to the docks when she noticed that everyone was coming on board, and they were pulling the gangplank on board. Hastily she scrambles back onto the deck. Throwing a look of irritation at the boathands.

Maybe we can finally shove off! she thinks to herself.

Decideing to go sit down and enjoy the fresh river air, they finally start to pick up speed. Kitiara finds a dry spot and starts to examine her fellow passengers. The smell of lavender hits her and she ponders where that smell is coming from. Decideing to go investigate she makes her way to the galley.

 

Xalen turns to the mage and ponders that question for a moment. In all honestly, he had little clue. For a change, at least, he had decided to go with the flow of his comanions and the river and see where it took them. Besides, as long as they were away from the Drow, he had few complaints. But still, he had little to tell the mage.

"Majikus, I can's say I'm truly sure. I know I will refresh the flowers on my Grandfather's grave. Been a month at best since his death, rest his soul. Perhaps I will look up family. They might be able to offer advice, but I doubt any real help. There just relatives, my main family lives south still, where I was headed before all this wretched mess. At best, we will be away from this elf, and perhaps we might find a clue or two about the stone from it's origional contacted buyer. Who is to say. Surely that city will offer up more help than Silverymoon."

Xalen strolls over to some crates and relaxes, stretching his limbs as he leans back and watches the city and water pass by. I wonderous place to be sure, perhaps next time he will have more time to take advantage of what the city has to offer. Seaguls flew overhead as the water's cool moist breeze flowed over his skin. Leaning back, he closed his eyes for a bit, thinking about the mages offer. As he cracked them again, he saw the mage standing close, a look of expectation on his face. He really couldn't tell him no after all. "I suppose you can travel with me mage, but remember one thing. I am not responsible for you. Your trouble is your own. Pull your own wait, and you can come with me of course. Maybe you could teach me a spell or two while we're at it." With that, Xalen close his eyes again, and relaxes on deck, drifting back to happier thought of Waterdeep before tradgedy stuck.

 

They made reasonable progress that first day, 16 miles tacking across the river to make best use of the wind. Barges comming upstream were being rowed against the current. As dusk fell the Cormorant was moored to a tree, captain Jack not wishing to collide with the riverbank in the dark.
