Which is why talk of it affecting his business is off. I can't imagine he makes any money from the club. It's like a new parish priest coming into a church and changing around the old traditions that were built up. I know he has the authority to do it but it's just very ignorant to do do.

You guys dont know much about this business then? Its not just the football which makes money, the stadium also has a leisure club, gym, sauna, conference and meeting facilities and a pub. The stadium is used seven days a week for different events as part of the Five Valleys Conference & Leisure Centre, its not just a football club, if it were do you think the council would have allowed the £3million stadium to be built over school playing fields (already upsetting the locals) - capacity 5,147 and has seen 4836 used.
In December 2009 the ground was selected as part of the city of Bristol's 2018 FIFA World Cup bid to act as a training ground facilitiy, so its not as off the map as people may think.
The cheapest ticket is £13, when compared with the £27million liberty stadium is £20 and they sell their replica shirts for £40.

I know just about nothing when it comes to the league setups in UK football. Give me something for comparison here. Where does this league rank relative to the Premier League? (Which is the only UK league I'm familiar with.) Is it one step below or several? Is it like a minor league system, or are these players just not quite good enough to play in the Premier?

Premier League? It's practically a different sport and definitely a different world. We're talking 4 levels below Prem standard here. The players probably have other jobs as well. I don't know what to compare it to in America, but it's nothing good!

Well, that's why I asked. Number of teams the Fopster can name that aren't in the Premier League: Zero. Number of Leagues the Fopster can name other than the Premier League: Zero. So I can only determine what this team may be like in relation to the Premier League, because that's the only one I'm even remotely familiar with.

Surely you can name a few outside the PL? Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Leicester City, Sheffield United, Middlesborough - don't these names mean anything to you?

The Forest Green Rovers wiki says that they draw between 700 -1,200 for conference games. 'Forcing' that many persons to not eat red meat for a few hours while attending matches just doesn't seem to measure up to genuine oppression (either by numbers or by the nature or duration of the offense, or by the entitlement of the offender), no matter what other activities they get up to during the week. If the UK told its citizenry in toto that they could never eat red meat for the rest of their lives and that they must attend Rovers matches at least once per week for the rest of their lives, that would be oppressive.

Leeds, Nottingham, etc. do mean something to me - specifically they are names of cities in the UK. They don't mean much of anything to me regarding football. (Although I think I have heard of Leeds before - outside of its context as a city - did they used to be Premier League and then get relegated?)

They don't really cover much footie over here in the states Barmy, especially UK footie. So yeah, we hear about Man-U, Chelsea, Arsenal, etc., and international events like the WC of course get coverage, but you'd have to make an effort to actually look up stuff on anything outside of the Premier League - you won't find it by just browsing ESPN, Sports Illustrated, etc.

My "beef" (pun intended) is more with forcing the players to not eat meat moreso than not serving it at the stadium. As you rightly point out, the fans can eat whatever they want when they aren't at the stadium.

Gaear, this is not a football ground, it is a the communitys main source for recreation - a leisure club, gym, sauna, conference and meeting facilities and a pub. The stadium is used seven days a week for different events as part of the Five Valleys Conference & Leisure Centre, it is the community, you make a change here and the community either abides by it, or they stay at home.

many small towns are like that, Pontardawe for example has an RFC..... thats it, your friday night out is spent at the RFC regardless of whether you play or watch the sports or not, that is where you socialise, same for saturday night, sunday lunch, parties, anything - thankfully these clubs are normally run by a committee and thus no one idiot has supreme power to screw up everyones enjoyment.

I understand. Still, how many people a day would you say are affected by The New Lawn's food service policies? And more significantly, what impact does not serving them red meat while they're in attendance ultimately have? It sounds like it basically amounts to hampering their ability to enjoy themselves to the extent that some might wish.
