I know this topic is very old.. but:

    ToB spoiler below .. beware:

I disagree that imoen is really your 'sister' in the human sense of the word. Especially after playing ToB.

clearly, you have different mothers. you were not found at the same time by gorion (ToB info)

also, clearly, Bhall impreganated women using very different forms. i.e. sometimes as a dragon. sometimes as a drow, orc, fire giant, etc. so he assumed drastically different forms that certainly shared very little genetics.

therefore, I believe he also used drastically different human forms--and these forms had different genetics. remember--the point of his impregnation was not passing along his genetic code--but passing along his 'divine' essence so he could come back someday.

in conclusion: imoen is your 'sister' only in that you both carry essence of bhaal in your 'souls'. thus, the tradition taboo re: sister/brother relations and and the science against mixing two genotypes that are nearly identical do NOT APPLY!!!!!!!!!

Hes right, you're only siblings in the divine sense, genetically you're VERY different. Its like saying we the human race are all related. In a way we are, but we're not in an incest sense.

Yes but you were raised as siblings with Imoen- she calls my character "little sister"- and most people just wouldn't be attracted to even their adopted siblings if they were raised together. I remember reading an interesting study on that for kids raised in group homes- they never seemed to find each other attractive when they got to be "that age". So while it may not be genetically unwise to sleep with Imoen, it's probably not good roleplaying.

As for the comment about "Western morals", it's not really a Western issue at all. In general any society that raises children of both sexes together (as Gorion raised the PC and Imoen) has a taboo against marrying them to each other. Royal families have made an exception to this rule in the Western world as everywhere else (e.g. Mary Queen of Scots was raised as a sister to her first husband, Francois) but this is for political reasons rather than moral ones. The "common people" would have been shocked at such goings-on, and sadly, the PC and Imoen are pretty common other than the child-of-a-god bit. :)

Yes but I think its more of a "best friends" type deal than a "siblings" type. Best friends -can- fall in love ya know I hear its pretty common =)

talk about cliché plot... first in bg1 sarevok turns out to be your brother.. taht's pretty bad. Now, you're thinking it can't get much worse... and what happens, they tell you imoen is your sister... ahem, I'd sack some script writers if I could call the shots at black isle...

I dont really think any of this is relevant. The poll was who is the prettiest female, not which npc would you most like your pc to have a romance with. Furthermore, the poll was (i hope) intended to be at least a little tongue in cheek, seeing as how none of the people involved actually exist. Sorry to put a dampener on things, folks, but I felt that a reminder was needed of the binary based beauties' status pertaining to reality...

[IMG] No, this was about the poll we ran on the front page and it WAS about which NPC you would want to have a romance with. (Imoen was there too.)

I'd appreciate it if people didn't resurrect old posts as often (especially confusing ones) because I simply have to close them when they appear again.
