    A man gets into his car each morning and hears a rhythmic thumping from one of the wheels. That afternoon he takes the car to be serviced and have the wheels balanced, but everything checks out perfectly. The next morning the same thing happens. What is going on?

    Hint: This is occuring in the late fall in a non-tropical climate, and only happens in the morning. The car is fine in the afternoon. The problem goes away after ~15 minutes of driving.

    Well, coming from Canada, this is now obvious. The "square tire" syndrome caused by parking the car overnight in sub-freezing temperatures is the problem. But that's basically Daephon's answer, so he gets the honours.

    Close enough, I guess - the answer is that there was water inside the tire that would freeze overnight, causing the imbalance. Driving for a bit or warmer afternoon temperatures melted the ice, and the water would distribute itself evenly as the tire spun so there would be no imbalance.

    Are there no other fans of the "Car Talk" puzzler here?! :eek:
