I've never found myself thinking "Ooh, that accent is so hot." I pay much more attention to the voice itself. Then the tones, the choices of words - things that say something about the person other than just where they're from or how advanced their command of a foreign language is. I do listen to the accents too, but with curiosity rather than emotional attachment, unless the accent really grates on my nerves. So the accents I "like" are actually ones I'm neutral towards.

There's plenty of accents that I find annoying, though. I'm relieved no one has mentioned Finnish accents. If you ever hear someone speak English with a thick Finnish accent, cup your ears and run. I'd rather listen to a cat sharpening its claws on a blackboard.

French and Spanish, no question. :)

Tho distinguished Oxford English... gets my attention too. :D Less sensual, but still...!

And then there is something about Japanese as well. Hard to pin down what it is, but it's there.

Oh, oh! Methinks definitely that finnish sung with an accent from north and close lapland is very beautiful.

There's this Lord of the Rings musical in Toronto for which this finnish band Värttinä has composed at least some of the music with a composer from India.

Need I say that finnish is an elvish dialect? Finnish people: try speaking finnish softening those t's and k's, maybe to th's and kh's and trying to speak it with an soft english twist! And behold, you're speaking a sort of elvish!

Now who's saying that elvish isn't sexy?

Mmm, there's nothing sexier than sidling up to a hot girl in a bar, leaning in close and saying "Hey baby, how're you doing?"

And she replies "Ach, what'bout ye?"

Hehe, ah Belfast, how I miss thy mighty hockey team, friendly people, and loud girls.

Bah...to non Italians, it always sounds as if they're arguing with eachother, they're loud and wave their arms to underline their statements. That doesn't sound like a romantic tone to me. And having seen the x-rated version of Capuchetto Rosso, i think i know what i'm talking about. :shake:

I always find that too. Italians are really loud and rowdy and gesticulate a lot. When I'm abroad and see some Italian guys talking, it's as if they re on the verge of fighting all the time. But that's just how they are normally.

See, that sounded like a threat of phsyical violence if ever I heard one (I assume it wasn't supposed to be something romantic.....).

I'm inclined to agree with MoN. :D

And maybe not exactly sexy, hehe, but I like the sort of Latin accent some ecclesiastic figures have.

British. I've always loved Britain. British accents are awesome with their utter poshness. Scottish are pretty cool too.

Japanese accents are silly, IMNHAAO. Admittedly, Japanese girls are cute, though. Incidentally, for some bizarre reason I think my girlfriend has a neat little accent, which makes little sense, but she does.

Yes Belfast girls are surely the loudest on earth. Which is why I never date local girls...
