Well, the shadowdragon isn't a fire one, so he can't breath fire.
As for Firkraag, you're very very lucky he didn't brath fire. With me he did and you'll have to save for that. My mage was to close and just casting lower resistance when Firkraag breathed fire upon my main character. Aerie and Jaheira were dead at once with that attack!
So Firkraag does breath fire and if you killed him quick enough, you're just plain lucky...

Huh, he may be lucky, but then I must be too. I never saw Firkraag cast/breathe fire.

I think the hardest dragon in the game is the last one, in the 9 Hells.

SPOILER for the hell dragon - you don't have to fight him, just in case anyone was bashing their head against a wall.

And it isn't something he casts.
He breathes it like a weapon, just like his wings and his bite.

Just a thought, I wonder if it depends on what dificulty level you are playing the game. And before I get flamed (pun intended) I'm not suggesting that anyone is playing on the easier setting - it's just a thought.

As an aside, he flamed me too.

    I trust you Punisher!

Slappy! - How do you not have to fight the dragon? The tear of Bhaal is on his body. Unless you're suggesting that we pickpocket a dragon.

if you arrange your dialogue in the right way, all you have to do is talk to the dragon and it will give you the tear

Correct. This is not called the test of pride for nothing...

You gave in to the demon's prodding of you to kill the creature without any information about why it should be killed.

well all i did was bought minor spell sequencer, spell sequencer, spell trigger and the triple one that fires at special times. just set them all for magic missiles. and fire them at the dragon. it should kill him.

A wise man doesn't always have to use his strength.

[IMG] I solo'd the Shadow Dragon a few days ago with my dc Fighter/Mage.

At the time I was Fig-9/Mage-15 so Animate Dead gave me the truly excellent Skeleton Warrior. I summoned two of those and three other "monsters".

Cast protective spells like for example Blur, Spirit Armor, Stone Skin and of course Resist Fear.

A good start is to cast Lower Resistance on the dragon and mayby Greater Malison. After that Magic Missiles and/or Lightning Bolt.
Also, one of my favourite spells: Melf's Minute Meteors is good.

Have a couple of Breach memorized!

It's important to attack a dragon from opposite sides! Start by charging with two characters/monsters from opposite sides and when he Wing Buffs one side you can send in a third character/monster so he is always busy. Meanwhile the magician or archer can pound him from a distance.
