    My understanding is that it's a political environment where people come to power through wealth, and where power principally serves the interests of the wealthy. Malcolm Turnbull, for example. Maybe I'm applying it too broadly or cynically.

    I had heard about the NZ election, but didn't know it was so soon. Helen Clarke's government seems to be doing a decent job, at least from where I sit across the Tasman, although I heard that there were rumblings about race as an election issue.
