Oh, I never meant to suggest that my cheat was using the Morturi. It was (as you said) assigning it to a multiclass, and then altering the kit so that it could be hasted.
I've completed it several times (party and solo) without cheating. It's only the last few run-throughs that I've started to cheat, and I always make sure I have some difficulty-enhancing mods installed to restore the challenge.

Edit: Not that any of this has anything to do with the topic at hand.

    Edit #2:

If you remove the XP cap, and install the component of the G3 Tweakpack that allows mage HLA's for triple-classed characters, you can get both level 9 spells and mage HLA's.

Don't like the look of that Morturi class at all. Would suck al the fun out of item collecting! :D

I have beaten SOA/Tob a few times now with Solo's and I have to say that a Fighter/Thief combo is the way to go (IMHO).

Choose a kit-Fighter to start with (Wizard Slayer is my fave, berserker is good) and then move into Thiefdom.

When you are able to get TOB abilities choose UseAnyItem. Makes all the diff.
Grand Mastery in something like Staff's (Staff of the Magi, Staff of the Ram), Flails (for Flail of Ages) Katana (for C-Fury) is best.

Then you can fight toe-to toe with most and they can generally be 'weakened' with Backstab beforehand. A WizSlayer has his restrictions (largely) removed by UAI but retains the bonuses. You get the awesome thief high-level abilities such as 'spike trap'. And you can use scrolls in your quick slot in the same way that a Wiz uses spells. My faves are Stoneskin, Fireshield, Breach, Mordi's Sword etc.

So you get great advantages, can use pretty much anything, do pretty much anything AND you are adaptable for 99% of situations.

As I say I have beaten both SOA and TOB with this combo on solo and although I had some 'hairy' moments, they were generally before I had 'combined' enough to use both classes and UAI kicked in.

Oh and my two fave non-weapons items for my solo...Jan's shirt and the Belt of Inertial whatnot. The key is immunities and resistances.

Ahh, I'm itching to get my hands on a Blade with SK'd Nahal's Reckless Dweomer...Good solo build, no?

So what I'll get is basically a combat ready wild mage; a bard with all the spells, a mage with abilities in battle...a spellsword type? Half-Elf, of course...

Cheesy? Over-powered? But fun, definitely. :D
