You know, this was such a stupid set of lyrics to post - not likely that anyone was going to get it.

It's Genesis, Dancing With The Moonlit Knight, from Selling England By The Pound.

Since DHB guessed the band, she can have the next turn. In the meantime, I'm going to do this  and this :bang: for awhile to try to knock some sense into me.

I think DHB did well to even get the band. I have never heard of that song or that album.

Yes, I almost got one entirely by myself. Here's mine:

"Stuck on the end of this ball and chain
And I'm on my way back down again
Stood on a bridge tied to a noose
    Sick to the stomach"

I'm a HUGE Coldplay fan! And I'm an even bigger REM fan, but Death Rabbit already posted lyrics from a REM song recently :(

This one may or may not be obscure (isn't that helpful? :) ) I'll post hints later if need be...

You build me up then you knock me down
You play the fool while I play the clown
We keep time to the beat of an old slave drum
You raise my hopes then you raise the odds
You tell me that I dream too much
Now I'm serving time in disillusionment

    I don't believe you anymore...I don't believe you

Yes, this one may well be obscure. Plus, who or what is 'Zebra'?

This must be a song by Dead Can Dance, but I don't know its title.

It is indeed a (great) song by Dead Can Dance. The title is "The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove". How awesome is THAT title? ;)

It was kind of a toughie, so guessing the band's name is good enough for me. Your turn BOC.

He's the wolf screaming lonely in the night
He's the bloodstain on the stage
He's the tear in your eye
    Been tempted by his lie
He's the knife in your back
    He's rage

"Let's go to Ray's, not to Pizza Hut
Let's go to the bed, not to Starbucks
Let's vote for Nader, what are we waitin for?
I wanna live to be a hundred and sixty four
To the crib, then back to the studio
To write a song so good make a midget grow
From the north pole, down to mexico
If you don't know the words, f**k it! Let's go!"

edit - even though this song endorses voting for the King of the Ass Clowns, it's a good tune from a great band. ;)

Wow DR, first REM, then Live? Two of my favourite bands right there! The song is "Like a Soldier", from the album Five.

Funny thing: Exhuming McCarthy is from REM's 5th album, and Like a Soldier is from Live's 5th album! Coincidence??? [insert Twilight Zone music]
