I think that's the star spangled banner. though not being american, I have no idea who wrote it. Oddly enough, I can't recall who wrote O Canada either.

It's "The Star Spangled Banned" a poem by Francis Scott Key about seeing the american flag still flying after visting The British fleet in Chesapeake Bay during the 2nd English Civil War....

And before you all start complaing that it's the American war of Independence remember you and the French won, my country lost...

Avarahtar is correct. It's the beginning of the third verse of 'The Star Spangled Banner'. I thought it might last a bit longer, you know? Oh well, back to the Eastern European, death-thrash metal. ;)

    I want a little bit
I want a piece of it
    I think he's losing it
I want to watch it come down

Eh, just a quick post to apologise for the *ahem* confusion over my last quotation... :o Suffice it to say that a lot of this arose from the fact that some of my data (i.e. Tom Vek is Canadian) came from a friend (the one who lent me the album, specifically) & I didn't check prior to going to press. Sorry, folks. This proves a couple of things:</font>
    1. Friends suck, and are not to be trusted
    2. The internet rocks! /me huggles laptop
Also, I've been on self-enforced hiatus from the Bo'M in attempt to bolster my job-seeking efforts (hence, the lack of reply 'til now).

P.S. - the new quotation is NIN - March of the Pigs :p

    EDIT: typos + grammar

    W00t!

Ok, I promise you - this is by Canadians this time. Really... really, really.

I am leaving if you turn away
In the basement is where I'm gonna stay
From the bedroom, where we're running from
There's a sequel to the things I've done

Hopefully, someone will know this one... Or are my musical tastes really that obscure? :hmm:

Nope. I'm thinking of a pretty new band - this is off their only album so far.

There is blood on all the shoes you've worn
From the people you've been stepping on

I think it's Death From Above 1979, but I have no idea what the song name is.

It is DFA 1979, and there's a clue in the last quotation...
Also, it's one of the two singles released so far (iirc). ;)

Well I'll assume it has something to do with blood but seeing as I don't recall hearing them on the radio, and have actually only seen them at small local shows I can't really guess what the song title is.

    Close enough! :thumb:

The track is Blood On Our Hands, by Death From Above 1979 (as already said). Which means it's Avarahtar's turn! :)

But since he did not post any quote within 24 hours, that I will hijack the board (I love those rules):

Dying by the flood, no way back, no recalling
The malice and the pride is the death and the fall of man

    few more lines
Hellbound, poisoned souls, in pain they'll burn, no return
Mankind will never learn, their blinded pride, the evil side

And read all lines carefully- there is a title somewhere
And BOC should know this one

Hmm, german power metal band from 1994. Well, I'm sure that it's not a song by Helloween, Gamma Ray, Scanner and Heaven's Gate, therefore the most possible candidates are Blind Guardian, Running Wild and Gravedigger. This "no return" in the above lyrics brings to my mind the chorus of "Under Jolly Roger" but because I've lost my interest in Running Wild since "The Blazon Stone" album (they've become too repeatative for my taste), I'm absolutely unfamiliar with their work after 1991. I'm also almost totally unfamiliar with Blind Guardian (I like only their "Follow the blind" album) and I hate Gravedigger (they suck, a bad copy of Helloween and Accept), so I still don't know this song.

Your getting close. But I will give the answer
It's Running Wild - Genesis (The Making And The Fall Of Men) from Black Hand Inn album (one of thier best :D ). Very epic song.
So a new quote (should be easier):
So now that it's over can't we just say good-bye?
I'd like to move an and make the most of the night
Maybe a kiss before I leave you this way
Your lips are so cold Idon't know what else to say
