    There's far too many to list, so I'll just mention some of the more meaningful ones:

    "English Sunset"-Moody Blues
    Reminds me of the first girl that I ever really loved.

    "Out there Somewhere"-Moody Blues
    Another one talking about man's unending quest for love.

    "Waiting"-Foreigner
    Same as above

    Anything by Styx
    This was the favorite band of a girl I once dated.

    "Lucille"-Kenny Rodgers
    Reminds me of when I was young and used to go on vacations with my parents. This song I remember really liking whenever it was over the radio in our old truck.

    "Story of a girl"-Nine Days
    Reminds me of that same girl that Moody Blues does.

    "Don't Want to Miss A Thing"-Aerosmith
    Same as the other guy that said it.

    "All I Need is A Miracle"-Mike & the Mechanics
    Kind of speaks for itself.

    "Every Rose has It's Thorns"-Poison
    Reminds me of a girl I once loved.

    "When you Close your Eyes" and "Sister Christian"-Night Ranger
    Reminds me of good times in life.

    [IMG] Guns n Roses - Sweet Child : my band played that song at my college leaving party and it became my and my then girlfriend's tune.

    Taproot - Again : After the gf split on me it was hard to find tunes that didn't remind me of her. This song help me get control of myself. The lyrics are sung quite violently and go like this, "Just need some time to myself, again, just to bring back the old days, when i, was in control of my life, again and again."

    They helped me to realise i was better off without her. I kept in touch with her. Then she got engaged to one of my mates, and thought i was still obsessed with her because i wasn't talking to either of them. The truth, i couldn't be bothered to talk to them coz they constantly went out of their way to try to make me jealous. When really i just thought that they were way below me on the maturity scale.
    So i listened to Taproot some more.

    most songs that meant something to me don't (or do less) mean that much to me anymore, but a few important ones:

    Avond by boudewijn de groot. One of Hollands best singer's and this the song of my girlfriend and me

    Poison by Alice Cooper the first rocksong to really hook me up to rockmusic

    14 years G n' R just brilliant!

    He's alive (Don Francisco). Although religious, I'm not into gospel very much but this song hits me every time I hear it and gives me shivers every single time

    Some are not exactly songs:

    Moonriver... Harry Mancini

    Who wants to live for ever (There's no place for us...)

    Lodoss' Mediaeval March, Voice of an elf and some other fantasy and mediaeval style pieces by various people.

    Pavane pour une infante defunte - Ravel

    Triste Espagna and a few others used as background tunes in Europa Universalis 2

    Il mio cuore va (My heart will go on, Italian opera version) Sarah Brightman

    Con te partiro (Time to say goodbye) Sarah Brightman, Andrea Boccelli

    IWD soundtrack by Jeremy Soule as well :)

    A whiter shade of pale.

    Gregorian Masters of Chant (everything).

    And a Polish one that no one will know: 'O, Ziuta'. Surprisingly helped my realise an important truth about myself.

    [IMG] Blue Monday by New Order. The was the song I first danced with Heather on our first date after our rocky meeting at a LARP session in Brooklyn. It always causes me to get choked up.

    Gabriel

    There are a lot of songs that have a special meaning to me.

    A few examples:
    * I stand alone - Godsmack
    * The Curse of Feanor - BlindGuardian
    * A tout le monde - Megadeth
    * Time Stand Still - BlindGuardian
    * The Glass Prison - DreamTheater
    * Trust - Megadeth
    * Almost Honest - Megadeth
    * Battlefield - BlindGuardian.

    I'm not gonna list why though. Some of those things are too personal.

    Well, after a rigorous consideration I have to state that one of the songs that hugely affected my life is "Simarik", by Tarkan - a turkish singer. When I heared it, I couldn't stop laughing. Turkish words sound so funny to me.

    More seriously, some of the songs (or parts of the songs) I recently linked, for one reason or the other, with my life:

    "The Divine Wings Of Tragedy" - Symphony X
    "The Mirror" - Dream Theater
    "December Flower" - In Flames

    [IMG] I tried not to bring up any dream theater songs, coz i can always find something special in it. Wheter it is a particular solo, the general theme of the track/epic, or the words.

    I think that is why DT are the most important band in my collection.

    I also recently bought a solo album by Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater's keyboard/synth player). It's called 4NYC, and all proceeds go to a charity for anyone affected by 11/09. You can tell all the tracks on there are full of emotion. I guess they aren't personal to my individual life, but are amazing to listen to.

    "The Host of Seraphim" - Dead Can Dance. I don't know why, but I always get a bit depressed when I listen to it (The music and feel of the song kinda depresses me. I have no idea what she's actually singing).
    "Summoning of the Muse" (Dead Can Dance) has the opposite effect. (Important to play this one after the first one, yes? Instant karma restoration, and all that)

    "Cantara" (Dead Can Dance (starting to see a pattern here? ;) ) ) makes me kinda homesick (autumn, dancing leaves & storms, oh my!). Spent a year in a dark, windy place (seemed like a wasteland to me), and this song was playing when I first realized how badly I wanted to get out of there.

    "Soul Drive Six Avenue" (Money Mark) is usually being played when I'm getting dressed for a party or something. :cool: Played it the night I met my girlfriend, and it's sort of had an effect on me ever since... ;)

    [IMG] This song is very dear to. Made me begin to sing and play guitar. Basicly it describes my personality and wishes in life very well.

    Take a moments peace and listen to "Imagine". It is at this site with a more up to date live movie. Just click the window down if you don't like the movie.Imagine

    [IMG] There's a lot of songs that I hold as special.

    Sweet Child of Mine by Guns and Roses reminds me of a good friend

    Nowhere by Therapy? as it reminds me of a lot and how I got through it all

    Angel by Aerosmith reminds me of an old friend I haven't spoke to in ages since we drifted apart

    And surprisingly a song by Bon Jovi (old Bon Jovi when the were good and hadn't sold out) called Blood on Blood that always puts me in a good mood as it reminds me of my closest friends.
