Sorcerer VS Mage

Either one can be brutal in combat -- you just need to take more time to prepare the mage and accept the sorcerer will be less useful on occasion.

Take one of each.

 

Aldeth makes a good point about player experience.

The sorcerer is clearly and obviously superior to a single class mage or specialist mage. The reason is that the number of important spells are small.
As a back-up you can cast spells from scrolls (which are in good supply).

 

Earl Grey - I agree. I only ever use about 8 spells in total but I wish I could cast them over and over again.

 

I always use a Necromancer - my favourit specialist mage. While I find the concept of the Sorcerer to be good, in practice I found the Sorcerer to be boring. I like to have the ability to plan my spells ahead.

Of course its also fun to bombard the enemy with 4 fireballs in a row!

 

Sorceror is more flexible and much more powerful. At higher levels anyway.

 

A mage is more interresting, because he/she can cast more different spells and is therefore, in my opinion more fun to play.

A sorcerer can cast any spell in the game - just use a scroll, it's not as if they're in that short supply.

Once you've got the desire to cast weaker spells out of your system it's time to stick with the strong spells that always get the job done and for that the sorcerer is in a league of it's own.

 

True, but I like to keep my inventory as empty as possible (that includes spell books, don't know why, must be some stupid thing in my mind)
