There are very few ways you can truly mess things up, so don't worry about it and experiment to your heart's content. Messing up also has a direct consequence (and it will be obvious), so as long as you keep regular saves you can even mess up on purpose just to see. The game has a few very interesting nonstandard game overs.

I get the itch every time someone plays the game for the first time and posts about it here :)

When I said I'd take my time, I really meant that. I've just found out how to switch classes and spend my proficiency points. It's a really seamless way to deal with several classes especially in 2E. Having to find some trainer to improve your proficiencies makes it way more interesting than just putting pips here and there (makes me wish for a mod that would implement that in BG2). Awesome.

Completed the 8 teachings of Zerthimon... Great how the interaction with Dak'kon builds up.

Now Fighter 5/Thief 5/Mage 6 and on my way to track down Pharod (hopefully).

Update: found "Fair Odd" and now Mage 7 but I ran into problems while spellcasting. I'll check the threads related to that question. Apart from this problem, this is a great game.

Ok, I'm stuck. I found the sphere and I am currently in the tomb. I pushed all the panels and I have the 4 keys, the pipe, the antlers and such but I can't get out and I can't find a way to get to the other room (which is on the right at the bottom of the screen).
Nothing seems to work and I've tried clicking all over the screen for something like two hours (didn't count the number of deaths, must have been pretty high). I think I have an autosave before entering the tomb but that's really a pain especially since casting certain spells make my screen go black (I have to exit in windowed mode to make it work).
I would appreciate any tips at that point. If the worst comes to the worst I'll start over from my autosave and skip the tomb altogether (is it even possible?).

My memories of this are fairly vague (suits Planescape oddly enough) but I think the following might be the gist of it:

Dying is actually an integral part of the puzzle. I think you sometimes wake up in a different location? Something along those lines anyway, TNO needs to be fried a lot.

I get the impression you're looking for a tip rather than the exact details of where to click. If you need it step by step I'm afraid you'll have to go to a walkthrough or wait for somebody with a better memory (higher WIS?) I'm afraid. I don't know whether you can skip the tomb but I certainly wouldn't.

Caradhras, you need to get teleported to the last room (SE corner) to leave the tomb.

You should have been able to do that as soon as you got the last (4th) key and have left the central chamber (where all the journals are) IIRC.
Have you tried standing on the torment symbols in the smaller rooms, now that you have all the keys? (the one to the south, or east maybe, just like when you were trying to move around the tomb with the previous keys). If not, try triggering the teleport by standing on one of those "lesser" torment symbols.

Try simply walking south from the central chamber into the smaller one.

The tomb is one of the nicer areas, story wise and it would be a shame to miss it altogether (There are some nice items in the SE corner room, too) - but it should be possible.

After pushing the panels and finding the fourth key, run downwards to where you found the third key. You should be teleported to the final room.

Thanks a lot, I appreciate your advice, I was getting desperate but didn't want to check a walkthrough because I didn't want to get too much information. Anyhow, I was irritated and I just went back to my old save and gave the sphere to Pharod. Hopefully I'll be able to go back (there was a line about still having to do something in the Buried Village before leaving Pharod).
I'll try what you posted about the teleport thing one more time then. I'd hate to miss a crucial plot element -I loved the panels by the way, call that slow reveal. Fantastic!

You're welcome! I agree it's better to ask for specific advice to specific problems, rather than read a walkthrough and risk getting spoilers.

You'll have the opportunity to examine the tomb later.

Where are you in the game now?

I went back to the tomb and it worked like a charm. Many thanks. ;)

Now I'm on my way back to the Buried Village with my three followers. I'm thinking of visiting Pharod (after the last cutscene it might not be such a good idea but I'm curious). I spent a lot of jink on tattoos (WIS, INT and CHA -with Friends- are all at legendary level).

To keep this spoiler-free all I'll say is: let your curiosity guide you ;)

You may have noticed that the tattoo availability is not set in stone. Don't forget to check Fell's every once in a while.

Make sure to check in with Fel from time to time - his tatoos do reflect your experiences, after all... ;)

(Also, have you found any... "material" evidence of TNO's previous lives in the crypts?)

EDIT: Z. beat me to the tatoo remark. :)

I'm not sure I know what you mean by "material" evidence, I read the panels and learned about previous incarnations (I love the idea of the missing line that Morte intentionally forgot to read), talking with Pharod brought into play some aspects of the previous incarnation as well. I know there is something going on with the Shadows and the war between the lower planes.

I've also found the severed arm (yours) with the extra tattoos (free XP) plus I now have intestines in my inventory... Along with several trophies (mainly the severed heads of some enemies). How gruesome!

    I meant the arm. :)

This is a hint about the arm, and not a spoiler, IMHO. Just in case, though.

Let's just say that the arm can lead to far more then just tatoos... if you're not the one doing all the talking at Fell's.

Glad you found it in your first run. I had missed it on mine, due to the general gruesomeness of the location. :p

[IMG] The WeiDU mods i got to work were Lost Items, Widescreen Mod v1, and Armors and robes for PST, installed in that order. The G3PSTweak-v1 caused my installation to crash, so it doesn't work with other mods/alterations, I guess. Other things I installed:
    Patch 1.1
    Platter's Fix Pack
    Fix Pack beta
    Candlestick quest
    font fix
    Armor mod
    MaxHP
restoration pack (fixes a lot of stuff that the patch and fixpacks missed)
I'd seriously consider installing the Widescreen mod. I simultaneously installed the alternative font, and didn't have any trouble reading the text, which as you know, is an important part of the game. Dialogue is more important even than combat. widescreen, in my case 1024x768, makes the game more modern and playable. Only the game screen is full size, all other screens are in the top left corner.

[IMG] :)Thanks for the link, I hadn't heard of it before.
my notebook only goes up to 1024x768 resolution, and this is what i think is the best resolution for playing the game - any more will make the characters and text become too small.
As for the installer: i'm a bit squeemish about installing anything in mid game, unless i think risk is low, and benefit is high. So a mod like Tactics I'd try, but something this extensive, just so the screens are centred instead of in the corner, i wouldn't do. The screens in the corner aren't disturbing in the least. And if there are incompatibilities, I risk my installation and maybe even my save games becoming 'deaders'.

That game is fantastic! I'm amazed at the quality of names in that game and the number of puns which sound right. Finding good names in an RPG is always tricky, I love what they did with PST.

The Nameless One has been through the fire (so to speak). It was a rather disturbing passage...

Right now I'm thinking about joining a faction. I hesitate between the Sensates and the Godsmen. I'm not sure yet but I think both would make sense.

I joined the Godsmen and had a chat with Lothar since my last post but I didn't play that much. I should be on my way to meet Ravel. I don't know exactly why but I'm getting bored with that game. I've learned a few things about the Nameless One's previous incarnation but I don't feel the curiosity or the excitement I experienced when I started.

Is there something wrong with me or did anyone feel the same about that game?

The part of the game where you're looking for Ravel is the least linear and combat-oriented part of the game but you have to do a lot of minor quests to find Ravel, mostly in the Lower Ward and Clerk's Ward. After that the pace speeds up quite a bit.

I don't mind the non linearity, quite the contrary in fact, but I no longer feel the urge to explore.

I did the Foundry and the Godsmen made me think of the Brotherhood of Steel in Fallout.

Still, I think I should be playing something else because this is no fun anymore.

Without giving any spoilers, can I expect some good fights down the road? Because so far it's been rather uneventful and I'd enjoy some real action instead of slaughtering one berk after another.
