What's the big deal about Golems when there is always the happy pit-fiend to tear that hairless-ape-looking juggernaut to shreds?

Honestly, i never had any trouble with golems as far as they are the usual Clay, Flesh, Stone and Iron variants. But in steps an Adamantide Golem, and the great Kensai may have bitten too much cake then he could chew.

But let me tell you this. Between the saving throws and the Silver Swords, the golems are as vulnerable as any orc in the game. Just lower their resistance and magical defences and there should be nothing that could stop them from dying.

    ... or just gate in a Pit-Fiend... :p

Unless you're very high level you won't even have the Pit Fiend summoning spell. Strictly speaking, if you don't have TOB installed you shouldn't be able to get enough XP to summon the PF.

And is a PF really going to get the better of an Adamantium Golem? I doubt it.

For that matter, would it even get the better of a Clay Golem? Immunity to anything blunt weapons (which the PF doesn't have) kinds of implies that the Golem would win out.

Clerics can Gate Pit Fiends as a level 7 spell, IIRC. You can certainly reach that in SoA. Or you could cast from a scroll.

The PF would get whipped though.

    Edit: Tcha-ching.

Heh heh, well, it seems so, but what is the problem here?

I believe that despite being unaffected by slashing damage or anything, the Silver Sword is able to kill it regardless if it fails to make the save.

And again, A Pit Fiend, is your best friend. Never leave the planes without it! :D

Ignore me. I'm getting confused with level 9 mage spells and level 7 cleric spells.

back to the golem killing. A cloudkill from the wand is a buggy way to kill them. They are immune to the spell version but not the wand. If you don't like cheese, a fighter with low AC and a +2 weapon or more is the way to go. Tips to get your AC lower versus blunt weapons (the golem fist): girdle of bluntness, certain armors (which will be mentioned in the character screen somewhere) and potions of absorption (the dark blue potions conver 100% electrical resistance and -10 AC bonus to blunt weapons).

Blunt weapons are key. A good tactic is to use a mirror-imaged, hasted character to act as a bait while the other bash him to death.
