stupid different standard of writing dates!

    Well, come on now - I'm sure that K & BA know each other well enough to not use the formal 'you'; I'd have expected "...tu parles...", but I'm just a filthy anglo, so what do I know? ;)

    Anyways, back to topic...sort of... :skeptic:

    True, but only to Americans - 5% of the global population. :p

    Personally, I find MDY format presented to me often enough, but I feel either DMY or YMD makes more logical sense (smallest scale to largest or vice versa).

    From what I've seen here - I'd say the best option for a uniform date format worldwide would be to go with YYYY/MM/DD, and force everyone to change what they expect (at least everyone would be equally handicapped by the new format, so it'd be fairer...)

    I already use YYYY/MM/DD (H:M:S), because it makes sorting files in directories *so* much easier.

    I am very guilty of writing dates as 8/01/2007, and it is the form I have to use on all my nursiing documentation. What can I say?

    You could speak to your employer and suggest (not demand stridency and militancy just polarizes your audience - often against you) they change at some point in the future to a more logical format.

    I've had employers that 'have been MuDdY' and in almost every case, I brought the issue up and presented my arguments. AFAIK I never had any effect on their procedures, but at least I felt better for speaking my mind. :)

    "You can't fight City Hall" isn't really true; it just takes gentle persuasion and patience. I remember that St. John's used to date correspondence and notices and things "23/04/98", but that changed a couple of years ago. I never got around to making any suggestions, but it appears that someone else did, and *succeeded*. :D

    I'm beginning to like Fel. You don't see many Americans willing to poke fun at the country and have a go at the country. There's a bit of a defensive mentality in most American's that they don't even seem to notice. Good on you, ***** boy :thumb:
