You know, I think he was just trying to say look in the damn cupboard

 

Aikanaro is right. I am trying to say Rubyne is looking in the cupboard. She hopes to find a good knife or good silverware (to sell for money, of course).

Okay then

Rubyne looks around the cupboard - it has a lot of brooms and cleingin items in here but nothing of value, one thing catches her eye though, a maids uniform is hanging in the corner - there is a glint of gold in one of the pockets, she goes to investigate and realises that iit is a solid gold pocketwatch, she pockets it and looks around - ther is nothing else.

take the maid uniform, never know when you've gotta sneak past someone (hint hint, nudge nudge)

 

Rubyne takes the maids uniform and examines it carefully, it is black silk and has a lacy apron and hat to go with it, as she picks it up Rubyne also considers taking a duster - but decides it would be taking it too far.

leave cupboard and pull on the uniform

 

Rubyne slips on the uniform and peers around the door. she steps out and closes the door behind her, she realises the cupboard is actually hidden and is in a mirrored wall - the door is also mirrored and doesn't have a proper handle on the outside. Rubyne looks around - there is a corridor leading to her right and one leading strait ahead. on the corridor ahead are five doors and stairs at the end leading down, on the corridor to her right it continues to a large door at the end.

Go down to the door on the right and carefully open it.

 

Rubyne carefully sneaks down the hallway and peers round the huge door - on the other side is a study, Rubyne steps in and looks over the right half of the room, her eyes widen as she sees all the silverware and other valuables, Rubyne turns round and looks at the left half and the colour drains from her face - a middle-aged amn in a butlers uniform is hanging from the chandalier(sp) by a rope!

She pulls out her dagger, holds it in a throwing position and slowly circles around the room, aiming for the valuables. (If reached without interuption then she'll take them)

 

Rubyne draws her dagger and tries to look away from the hanging man, she finds she is unable to draw herself away - she'll have to help him, even if he is already dead!

Rubyne looks at the body and tries to guess for how long the body has been hanging there. She then examines the silverware (with one hand only; the other is still holding the dagger a throwing position). She really hopes to find a good, solid cutting knife; anything would be better in a scrape than the piece of rust and wood in her hand.

 

Rubyne finds nothing but silver candle holders on the desk, she looks at the body and realises with horror that it hasn't been there long, she bets it is still warm, she looks at herblade - though it is old and rusty is still is quite sharp, she bites her lower lip in anxiety, being superstitious she obviously feels leaving the poor man would doom her for certain

 

Rubyne looks to see how the chandelier is hanging. Is there a chain? Can she lower the chandilier and the body to the floor? Or will she have to climb on something?

She decides whatever she is going to do, she is going to do quickly. This room is giving her the creeps.

Rubyne looks around panikly and clims slowly onto the desk and reaches up to the old man, she can just about reach the rope above him and using her dagger cuts him free - he lands with a thump onto the wooden floorboards and gives a muffled groan

 

Rubyne checks to make sure she heard correctly - a groan from a hanged man? She nudges the man, hoping that he's not dead, and tries to get him to wake up - if he hasn't died already.

 

Rubyne kneels beside the old man and turns him over so he hasn't got his face buried in the floorboards, he slowly opens his eyes and makes a strange gurgling sound, he slowly sits up and coughs violently

"Thank you, young lady," He looks Rubyne up and down and sees she is wearing the maids uniform
"I take that you are the new maid, I am Gordon, the butler here." He has another coughing fit and Rubyne pats him on the back to help.
"Thank you, please, help me up." Rubyne helps Gordon to his feet, he groans as he stands up and pants slightly, Not surprising as he is rather overweight too. He glances at Rubyne
"you must be Irviene, the new master must have hired you." Rubyne looks confused
"The new master?"
"Of course!" Gordon scoffs "Xzenick is now the master of the house, his parents have moved away to the country and he has this big old house to himself." Gordon chuckles "You must know this?"
Rubyne shuffles uncomfortably, Gordon glares at her. "I suppose you'd like me to explain everything?" Rubyne nods "here goes..."

After about twenty minutes Rubyne learns that she is in the DeLyn household, an old family known for being scrooges and very mean towards those of a lower standind in society, which was everyone to them, Xzenick is 20 years old and may very well be in the house too.

Rubyne is slightly nervous and Grodon stretches and rubs his throat where the rope cut in
"Be warned, my dear, there are many traps here, and the Xzenick is dangerous!" he indicates to the rope burnes around his throat "his finest work" he snarls, "I've had enough, I'm leaving, good luck, may you flee at the first chance!" Gordon leaves hurridly through the doors, limping slightly and couhging a bit but determined nethertheless.

She now grabs the silver candles (might as well make the best of a bad situation) and looks around the room incase there was anything she missed

 

The silver candle-holders are hidden awkwardly in her inventory and she uses her quick eyes to scan the area - nothing here now
