    Anyone who read Lord of the Flies for GCSE (or similar) will have been told by his/her English schoolmaster/mistress that this was impossible. The glasses to which the lens belongs were to correct myopia (short-sightedness), and would, therefore, have been of the wrong shape to focus the rays in the manner stated. I'm sure you feel all the better for knowing that.
