#645 -- I like Belkar.

 

I liked Belkar too but I'm annoyed about Roy's body. I've never read the books so don't know what the bonus strips are like but this is the first time I feel that the main content has been cut just so it can be included in the book. From a story point of view Rich should have shown getting the body back.

Still, nice to see the gang is about to be reunited. They were apart far too long and that robbed the chance of seeing them make snide remarks to one another.

 

Poor V, all that sacrifice for next to nothing.

 

Yeah, I'm a bit disappointed about that too. He's ruining the free webcomic - makes me regret supporting him by buying merchandise. And the hint Belkar makes to the bonus material is blatantly commercial.

 

Hah! That has to be one of the funniest OOTS in months! Doubly so that he updated the Cast of Characters page!

 

About time he/she thought about doing it. I now understand why the Necromancer's soul had to be out of the splice before V tried this though - it would have been way too easy to defeat Xykon otherwise.

 

Hmm, Dead V i do beleive. I wonder, does the souls dieing break the contract?

 

Pardon my ignorance, but I don't get it. Why does the Energy drain affect the soul splices? And the fight seems to be ending much too quickly. I was hoping for an epic battle at the very least. But it seemed to me that Roy actually did waaay more damage with just his sword alone.

 

I'm not sure how it is statted in 3E, but I remember than in 2e multiclass or dualclass characters hit with a level drain lose levels from their highest first. This would mean that the splices, as higher level than V, got hit with the drain. Maybe the second time V did get it, too - which might indicate her/his level somewhat.

Oh, and Xykon might have just hit a crowning moment of awesome here with that last line. Talking smack was always one of his better points... wasn't he a sorcerer in life btw?

Oooh, O-Chul is sure on his way to going out with a bang. Damn he's good, you just have to love him.

 

Oh, that was AWESOME.

 

O-Chul is totally awesome -- he's the most underrated character in the strip.

 

Underrated? Go to the OotS Forums and everyone there practically worships him. They even have "O-Chul Facts" threads, in the vein of Chuck Norris facts.

 

Well, after the last panel, they may as well add a few more. I doubt he'll survive, but we'll see.
