Dave, ALL of Jon's spells ignore resistances, not just Rature of the Father in particular. The spells that you yourself cast in dreams are the same.

A spell I really like is also one that you normally can't get - Selune's Curse. On the right graphics setting, it's a blue fireball. :D

A nice looking sequncer is flamestrike with two fireballs. It looks like fire comes down from the sky and erupts on impact with the ground.

I've never heard of Selune's Curse. What does that do?

    Inprisonment or Simulacrum.
as long as they have no important stuff on them it's always fun to use inprisonment. especially on net games :D .
Simulacrum is much more useful though i guess. once i used it to summon about 300 skeleton warriors vs. yaga shura's army which was VERY fun :) .

I allways long for Edwin to level up so he can cast Death Spell (level 6?). No more bothering with stupid thugs and hordes of trolls, Robe of Vecna + Death Spell = no time lost.

Selunes curse is part of the Tourtured Souls mod, it is an innate ability from Sime.

It's extremly powerful and their are very few enemies that an survive a selunes curse used in conjunction, with one of, Kachicko's (DC K/M but still a bad fighter since she's only level 7) and my F/M's fireballs (I always powerplay first time through a mod).

Honestly though why can't you get something at least a BIT powerful for your Bhaal ability's?

    Irenicus: Rapture of the father

CHARNAME: HA take this Irenicus (casts cure ligt wounds  )

Ascension gives you some better Bhaal abilities. I can't tell you what they are because I haven't played it yet.

With Ascension you get a more powerful version of the Slayer at 2, 4, 6 and 8 million XP; some abilities that increase your melee damage (great for a fighter); a fireball/lightning combination as an innate ability; an ability that renders you immune to Time Stop (worth its weight in gold for fighting Melissan); on top of that, Imoen gains quite a few abilities, including Slayer change, herself. Transforming her into the Slayer makes her the toughest melee NPC in the game.

I have Ascension, but I didn't know that Imoen could become the Slayer... Does it happen like her normal Bhaalspawn abiltys, or is it something else?

I think that 4th level "Polymorph" is ludicrously useful, especially in BG2. Didn't you notice that the mustard jelly is 100% immune to magic? ... and your mage can still use wands while polymorphed.

    I've wondered, because for
    - Selune's Curse (blue fireball)
    - Selune's Blessing (Globe of Invulnerability)
    - And a third one (forget the name (Selune's Gift?), it conjures a Moonblade)
all three have script names of Dradeel this and Dradeel that. But the only Dradeel in the game is in the Asylum, and doesn't use those spells.
    So why Dradeel??

lol, exactly how much does a spell weigh?

When you're fighting someone like Melissan who casts Time Stop then turns on her Greater Whirlwind Attack and batters on the PC with a +5 staff, you'll appreciate how much it weighs. :p

Imoen gets the Slayer ability in the fight with Irenicus and Bodhi at the very end of the game. Irenicus brings on the change in her, she turns hostile for a while, then she calms down and is able to use the Slayer change ability thereafter at will. I think she also gets a few spell abilities as well although I can't remember what they are right now.

I'll go with polymorph:self. Especially if you've got a F/M who can wield the defender of easthaven in their off-hand. If only strength bonuses weren't lost across the transform... well, I guess that's what potions of giant strength are for.

Hmm, I just took a look and I didn't see a Dradeel reference... typically when you see something like that it's because the spells do not contain the text of their descriptions and names, rather a reference to a certain line of text in another file, dialog.tlk. This is one of the reasons why a messed up installation (due to bad install order of mods or mods that overwrite dialog.tlk) will result in characters spouting off random lines of gibberish--the references in spells and dialogues no longer point to the correct entry.

Open SK, go to spell browser. Look at
    SPWI952 name: Selune's Blade
    SPWI953 name: Selune's Curse
    SPWI954 name: Selune's Blessing

BUT, the script names for each are, respectively,
    Dradeel Flameblade
    Dradeel Blue Fireball
    Dradeel Minor Globe

Now, it's obvious that there is no text string overwriting problem, as I have no custom stuff whatsoever on this computer, and the script name is accurate with the real name, so my question remains: why Dradeel?

As for the topic, Wail of the Banshee! Nothing like a good scream to let out the anger and frustration at the unholy lag when your screen if FULL of ogres, and killing everything within sight!

Oh, duh--you mean in SPELL.IDS. Check, got it, they are indeed listed as Dradeel_XXX.

I tracked these down: they're leftovers from Dradeel's combat script in BG1. Dradeel mentions that after he lost his spellbook, he turned to Selune for protection and she grants the few spells he has.

I think one of the best spells has been overlook for this game. Mass dominate! Where is it? Its the best spell in IWD2, but not present in BG2. I don't get it.

Another overlooked spell: Malavon's Rage. The best offensive spell in IWD yet absent from BG1 and 2. The fast casting time and high damage potential meant you could let rip with it in the middle of melee and slaughter everyone around you.

[IMG] Uh, how about you discuss actual spells in THIS game? This is what the topic is about, after all.

@Lethis: Well, I had a look at all the cool spells he does, and scrolling up in the battle text window, I found a weird spell trigger name with normal spells...atleast, that was before the fights I had with him. I have no idea about the cutscenes, but I thought I recognized a few animations, like the one which is triggered by Celestial Fury's stunning abilities etc etc.
