"Why? What do you feel?"

 

"Get in the boat boy" Garron commanded" the rest of you up the trees," he rubbed his amulet and looked around, anything that spooked the boy was gone. He waited another minute before lowering his guard.

" Well to answer your question, I am Garron VanDran, I am a meager fisher man and hunter I live farther east and yes I hunt near froggy. So midget I've never seen ya eather. Why are you folks swimming in a river with no boat? The boy will catch a cold." He scolded while he un strung his bow.

 

"I'm not a midget.." Derek said wondering why in the nine hells this Garron thought that he was a midget when he was clearly a human and around 6 foot.

 

Nicolas was amazed that anyone would fish in such a dangerous and well... forbidden forest. He felt comforted with this man all the same. He thought about this man maybe having anterior motives but quickly those thoughts vanished as he looked up into the friendly face of the kind man. Nicolas was cold and wet and wanted to go the rest of the journey in this mans boat, that is of course if he would let him. Nicolas no longer felt the familiar presence around him. He was glad that it was gone. “Would you allow us to travel out of this forest in your boat?”

 

Ssmalass looked at the boat and something resembling a smile crossed his face.

"Prehapsss Nicolasss, Derek and Rainette can ride in the boat but I think I shall jussst ssswim along nearby."

With that he lowers his torso into the water and swims a little way much as the Sea Serpent does exposing a body that while short for a naga is still lengthy.

 

"Whatever makes you most comfortable Ssmalass," said Nicolas making sure his friends all liked his plan.

 

Salorn almost laughed as teh entangle magics wrapped around him. It instantly died and fell off teh tree, his dark magic in place. Then, seeing the group leave, the Drow followed. It was when, however, the boy had stopped, Salor knew he had been spotted. And, as the invisibility began to leave his body, the Drow retreated into the woods.

 

Nicolas noticed a presence again but the feeling soon vanished and he forgot about it.

 

From the sky, whats seems to be a meteor, streaks towards the forest at a speed faster than the speed of sound. Moments later it thuds into the forest and a great cloud of dust (and trees) fly up. Then the waves of sound catch up with the fallen meteor and a deafening, ear-splitting sound of the meteor streaking can be heard for miles around, which is then followed by a dull, most unimpressive thud

A numbr of minutes later, when sound begins to restore itself to one's ears and the dust cloud begins to settle, a slight coughing can be heard.

A moment later, a hidden door in the side of the meteor flies open and a figure rolls more than walks out of the meteor, continuing to cough and roll until out of the dust cloud.

Once out the figure stands up and stops coughing, brushing hilmself down. Now that he is in clear sight, he looks to be about 5'11", slim with a trimmed pointy beard. His hair is in the shape of what one would look like when electrocuted in a cartoon and ontop of that is a small red hat.

Dressed in a white robe and brown apron (though one is sure that this used to be white as well) this figure scans the surrounding area. Also of note on his person, is his belt which has many pockets each are all containing vials and potions with all sorts of foaming or bubbling liquids. Facially, he looks like a crazy person.

Satisfied with what he sees around him, the figure finally opens his mouth to speak with a realativly high pitched voice coming out

"Weeeeeeeeeeeeeell! What do we have here Spider? Hmm? Do you know Spider? Spider doesn't know I'm sure! But it does beat that excuse for a mechanical teleportation device. Never thought it'd do that no way! But don't worry Spider, for there is this pretty forest for me to cut down and burn and destroy just so that can make seeeeeeeeeige weapons for the Z- ... Th ... ah ... I can't remember who i make seeeeeeeeige weapons for ... whoever pays Spider I guess ... yes thats right isn't it Spider? Of course ... Spider is always right!"

he figure then begins to walk back towards the meteor and again begins to cough and splutter. After two seconds, he decides to roll his way back to the meteor...

 

Rainette touched his hearing membranes to make sure they were still there. Blood was on his hands when he pulled them away. That stupid grumble-bird he ate last week had been right, the sky WAS falling, and the world was ending. He opened his mouth to speak, but he could make no words.

Looking at the others in the group, he could see their stunned faces, and imagined that he must look just as amazed.

Finally, the birds started to sing again and Rainette could hear again.

"What was that?" he asked.

 

"Something new is in the forest, that's for sure, Rainette."

 

"Release!"

Out of a ball of blue light Kelvin jumped on to the ground.

"There, ha ha. Nick my boy! I have a bone to pick with you..."

 

"What!?!!?!?"

A meteor and a bouncing lightning man thing, what is world coming to. Boy git behind me! Garron strung his bow and drew his bow in a flash

" Hold stranger! Who be you friend or foe? "

 

Nicolas was absolutely terrified. As if the mysterious presence what not enough. A huge crash is heard and a weird man comes out of blue lightning. This was all too much to comprehend.

 

"Boy stay behind me if I say now jump in the water and swim downstream. Ok?" Garron mummbled he didn't know why but he felt very protective of the boy.

 

Nicolas waited patiently for the strange man's next move. Why did the strange man appear in blue lightning and say he wanted something with me?

 

"What do you want? Why are so many people after this boy?? The trees do NOT like being disturbed at this time of day. Especially by magic."

 

"Nicolas, I merely want to ask something of you. Will you come with me? I have something you must see."

Kelvin stared at the all of the bewildered faces...
"What, you've never seen a spirit catcher before?"

Kelvin held up high the strange device he used to open up the portal from which he apparated(lawl).

"Ok, see, I was following you, Nicolas. I need you! We need you, that is to say the...um nevermind...Well I was following you through the forest, i used spirits that I caught in these very woods for transportation. That is why you haven't sensed my presence until now...My dear boy don't look at me that way. Do you not know that you are the one,... the one we need? Let me explain something to you. Well, I am Kelvin, first of all. Kelvin Dalf, uh, at your service. Well, what I mean to say is, I really do, um, nevermind...I'm sorry for all this chit chat, but we really must be off my boy...Now, come along. You aren't carrying anything with you, perhaps, oh, lets say, a crystal, a gem of some sort? Hmm?..."

Kevin looked patiently at his young acquiantance, waiting for an answer...

 

Ssmalass flicked his tongue at the strange (to him) creature. He didn't like its taste. He coiled up raising his upper body and holding the large sword in both hands.

He tried to touch the thing's mind with his own but only found a blank. Then he reached out his mind to the Derek man. "What is this thing? What does he wish to Nicolas boy?" The thought was a very worried one. He didn't want to lose these new friends.

 

"Oh, a snake, how...charming"
Kelvin stared down at the dark eyes of the creature.

Kelvin whispered to the snake
"Has the boy been exhibiting any strange behaviour lately?"
