    [IMG] That is magnificent!

Today someone decided from midnight to 5am was a good time to play loud, bassy music. Followed by wrecking the apartment building by setting off all the alarms and pulling fuseboxes off the walls. Kev helped the police iron things out.

8:30 this morning we got a knock on the door, we're still in bed so Kev shouts out "Who is it?"

    "Police."

Kev gets up and answers the door, we both think it's just checking up from the night before.

    Nope.

    Kev was under arrest.

His previous employer didn't pay him for three months, shortly before Kev resigned money went missing from the shop, on a day he had off. The investigation concluded the money was probably mistakenly disposed instead of banked (???)

So in the process of attempting to get the wages through the previous employer decided we were being too persistant in pointing out that witholding wages was illegal. So decided to blame Kev for the money going missing... the money went missing three months ago.

I'm currently amused and disgusted in equal measure, Kev only got home at 15:30 after this ordeal and we now potentially have an eight week wait before this goes to court - they don't have a leg to stand on, but it's just sickening bully tactics from a corporation who is taking us for a ride months since we had any affiliation with them.

That really sucks 8 :( can't you file a complaint somewhere for the missing wages? Don't be a stoic and don't let them walk over you! :tobattle:

@MoN People must've been thinking that they were in Benidorm Bastards :D

8, that sounds rather odd. I know that the police are as thick as two short planks at times, but that still seems a rather tenuous reason to arrest someone. It also seems to be very rushed with regards to court - 8 weeks is very quick in the legal system.

Think Kev needs to find a good lawyer and quickly as the police have obviously decided that he is guilty. On the plus side, you can probably get compensation for wrongful arrest once this is over. :)

The police have to follow up any complaint even without evidence, Ive been arrested because someone claimed I had stolen 2 small pine trees from B&Q (a member of the public I might add, not B&Q itself), the police arrested me because I couldnt prove I had bought them , I had paid in cash and thrown the reciept when I left the shop.... (not the old Innocent until proven guilty routine), I was later proven innocent by CCTV... I still find it entertaining to think of the idea that I walked past the checkouts with 2 pine trees without being noticed.

Tarrasque is right though, it is illegal to accuse an employee for theft without solid proof, once Kev is proven innocent he should seek a tribunal

Yeah, they have to follow it up, but for it to be going to court without any evidence? And afaik, just an accusation from an employer, accusing someone who wasn't even there when the offence was committed is not good enough evidence for court.

Something sounds funny. And that's from someone who is exposed to the idiocies of police on a daily basis.

[IMG] The police ended the interview early after the evidence produced by the company was pointed out to be a sham. Their supposed evidence is a piece of paper signing off that the money has been banked. Their proof Kev signed off on it is a small note at the top reminding the Sunder Supervisor to make sure it was sorted on his day off.

After Kev pointed out the signature was not his signature... and not even his name the policeman nodded and said "Yeah, we've got enough..." they still have to interview the staff at the time in the shop though, as it was 3 months ago that means tracking down two of the staff that left.

Means we can take the company to court not only to reclaim wages, but also for intimidation via the police, slander a few other bits.

We have three solicitors (2 friends, one from the police station who was assigned to him) and Kevs brother is also in the legal system so we're good, not too worried, it was just horribly undignified.

Kev has a migraine which has been going on over a week so he had some aspirin whilst waiting in a cell so he's happily telling friends he's now done drugs in jail

Certainly events of the day I was NOT expecting. Put a full stop on the plans we had for the day :(

What that ex-employer did may have been (a) fraudulent (i.e. tricking Kev into working for him with him not paying, however, intent may be difficult to prove (usually in such cases employers believe they will be able to pay, but then just can't)); (b) he apparently falsified or forged documents and (c) he apparently levelled false charges of theft or misappropriation against Kev.

If that's what he did that would then criminal behaviour. You could file criminal charges, based on the premise that the relationship between him and the employer can't really get much worse anyway. But then, there is a point in wanting to see this over asap.

Good luck, and get yourself some legal advice. Really.

    Good luck indeed!

    Mentions of mild nudity:

I have been drinking at a club with a very close (wink wink) female friend I ran into a couple of days ago, let's call her M, and her current boyfriend, who turned out to be a dull and witless individual, very possessive of her to boot. After a few minutes a really, really drunken lady staggered through the room, the front of her blouse unbuttoned, no bra underneath, her chest revealed for all to see. I laughed like hell, and asked my comrades: 'Ha, did you guys see that? Did you see that?' The boyfriend smirked and replied: 'M's are much better'. Without thinking, I added: 'True.' He shot me the most hateful glare EVER, and left shortly. :D:D:D

Do they still consider that performing a 'conversion,' or are you just stealing her out from under him outright? You are :bad:

I agree with Ragusa, 8people ... talk to an attorney. You could probably find one who would at least offer an initial consult for free.

Me? Gods, no. I knew M before they met, hence my reaction to his comment. Nothing happened that very night, 'twas all in the past. Besides, nobody 'steals' anyone. People's involvement with one another is based on a decision they both make.

Hm... 8people, are you guys planning to counter-sue?

Muaha! Yeah... Probably. :D The man is fun. He often quotes Andy from Little Britain (I want that one!) and Murray (Roll through the gates of hell!)

Another friend/relative of mine is in an electric wheelchair. He's called The Hermanator. Last time I saw him, we were at the pub and a few minutes had past since the last call for alcohol. I was sent back without booze. That's when the Hermanator grabbed my money and sighed: Why do I always have to fix this..?
He rode right behind the bar and complained: I've been waving my money about for 10 minutes now. Can I finally get a drink?!
The bartender excuses for not having seen him and The hermanator rides back with 4 beers, 2 mixed drinks and a devious smirk on his face. "Here your money back", he tells me.
He got it all for free. :D

I would disagree with that, but maybe that's for another thread. (Although this is your thread, so we might not get yelled at for going OT. ;))

Hahahahah! Awesome, MoN. :D Just plain awesome. Gaear, heh, well, I do not think it would be a good idea to start such a thread. Highly flammable. 'Sides, it had all been said befooooooreeeeee, nobody will get convinced, everyone will get offended, the world will end, et caetera. :D

I've never seen a person 'stolen' away that didn't already want out of the relationship. The person doing the 'stealing' is simply a conduit.

See, T2 wants the thread as well. ;)

While some (maybe even most) who stray are ready to be stolen, I have seen others in happy situations suddenly change direction when something new and exciting comes along. And more and more these days, for women in particular, that new thing can take the form of a previously unexplored same-sex relationship.

So all you married guys out there - watch out! :rolling:

Well, in case the person of the same sex actually wants a relationship, right? I think everyone should just share and be happy, so have fun in the potential (and no less flammable! :D) thread, monogamists! :D

Well, the relationship thread got shifted to the MUG so it may be a good idea to drop this and go start it in there.
As I said to Rune: move this discussion before the big pink draconian one bites you on the bum!

I'm not allowed in the MUG. I was always embarrassed to apply because I figured it would be like asking for admittance to the porno section at the video store. :p
