    Right, right, easy hints:

    Your main weapon for most of the game, beside punching and kicking, goes through 4 stages: Yellow, Green, Red and Fire. You also get a sword later.

    The probably most lethal enemy in the game was grey elephant-men who 1-hit-KO'd you, and could only be hurt by the fire weapon (and possibly the sword, but getting in range should be near-impossible.

    Ok, from the clues I'm quite sure I haven't played that game before. Need to think of titles that I've heard of but never played...

    Maybe one of those Krondor games? Or Hexen?

    Indeed it is a strategy game, set in a (the) future, but not Starcraft, C&C or Z, whatever that is.

    There were 8 races, and the quote is a threat from the most brute one of them.
