hehe, thanks. I've played that game so many times, I could hear the guy's voice instantly.

So how hard boiled is that dialogue exactly?

About 10 minutes from when the water starts boiling

Yup, love that dialogue in Discworld Noir.

Sweet, I haven't played that game in years. Though I can't think of a new quotation.

I'll only post the second half because the first gives it away.

'....you are confronted by the Guardian!'

Hmm, the only one I can think of is Icewind Dale 2 (The dragon in Chult)

There is the bit in watcher's keep in BG2, though I'm not sure that line comes up.

The only Guardian I can think of is Ultima's, and I'd say Ultima IX

    Sadly you are all incorrect.

Hint: It's not the genre you would expect.

    Return to Zork!

I'm so sure this is it... the Guardian confronts you whenever you try to pick up objects you're not supposed to.

I'll curl up in shame if I'm wrong! :shake:

Prepare to curl up in shame.

Nobody has the right genre yet. I'll make it even simpler. This message appears in a dialogue box.

Master of Orion? Every of the three games in the series has the Guardian at Orion. If I had to venture a guess, I would say it's part III, since I didn't play it, and IIRC, part I jumped to the fight immediately, and part II had just one animation... Anyway, since it will become a guessing game, with people now saying: MoO I! MoO II!, and since series were accepted, my reply is:
    Master of Orion

There is a text box that appears after the Orion video in MOO2 and before the battle against the Guardian begins. I don't remember the exact wording in it but I suspect that toughluck's guess is correct.

MoO2 is correct. Not sure who gets it though, I wasn't going to accept series answers.

Well, toughluck did seperately guess every game in the series as well as the series itself. Also, I hadn't made the connection before seeing toughluck's post so I would have to say that it is only fair to consider it toughluck's turn.

    OK, my turn:

    A part of a dialogue:
One thing -- it is unbelieveably easy to find this quote through any search engine. In fact, you can find every quote from that game on that site. Please, go by the rules, and do not respond if you've found the quote through a search engine. You can pm me if you do, I'll confirm.

I've never played the game in question, but I've seen the movie adaptation--unless HB is right, which I don't think he is. That (and since I can't think of a good quote to follow up) constrains me from answering.
