    I never got into Gabriel Knight 3, I didn't like the protagonist... I might have to give it another try, though.

    Nope. It's a PC game allthough I think it was later released on Xbox too. It's quite difficult to place this game in a genre since before the first game in this series there were not any quite similar games (atleast none I am aware of) . Anyway the best genre to fit into the description of this game is "Puzzle".
