Yeah Rowan Atkinson is hilarious in the Blackadder series too I.E.

Kalifornia is a great movie and Pitt is really good. He is a very versatile actor IMHO.

NOW we're talking! Rowan Atkinson was awesome in this series. Opposite end of the spectrum from Mr Bean: he's a deadpan snarker for most of the episodes, especially in later seasons. I think putting his acting in these 2 shows next to each other really shows what a great actor he is.

    ... WHAT? :jawdrop:

OK, I just have to find this movie now... this is one weird mix!

The Blackadder series are a bit off topic but they sure show how talented he really is. I have the entire series on tape including the Christmas and the time machine episodes. Lord Flashheart is one of my favourite characters: Wooof!!! :p

The director did Dog Soldiers and The Descent but he really got carried away with Doomsday. Dog Soldiers was a low budget movie but it wasn't that bad and I'm convinced that he had way too much money making Doomsday (hence the Bentley).

Since you've lived in Scotland you'll definitely enjoy how bad it is. It's a serious contender for the worst movie ever category. Runner ups include Highlander Endgame, Beowulf and Vercingetorix -I have to make a special case for Highlander the Source as it's really as bad as a movie can get (it wasn't released in theatres so it doesn't qualify though).

Still, there is one thing that makes Doomsday (and Beowulf) watchable, it's the leading lady: Rhona Mitra is incredibly hot.

Just saw a belgian cop thriller De zaak Alzheimer (The Alzheimer Case).

    Pretty good.

By the way, would it be a good idea to have a thread where we discussed different movie genres?

Wow, there's a number of not-so-great films but enjoyable nonetheless being mentioned here. Firstly, I loved Keeping Mum and btw, Swayze wasn't exactly doing a cameo role here. Dog Solidiers was surprisingly fun to watch. Doomsday was wierd but likewise surprisingly fun to watch. I just couldn't scratched the idea that the spanking brand new Bently could not outrun those dilapidated Mad Max junks. Hehehe.

Back to topic... I just saw Crossing Over with Harrison Ford, Ashley Judd and Ray Liotta. Ashley's old age is starting to show but she's aging gracefully. It's a pretty good movie about immigrants trying to get a green card in the US. I think the girl who played Talisma gave a really wonderful acting here. It's just heart wrenching to see how her character got torn up because she dared to understand a less popular group.

That's only one plothole among many... What about the cellphone? It's 25 years old... I could list so many. This movie is a true gem.

No, wrong expression. Uh.. supporting role?

Old age? She's 41! You make it sound like she needs a walker! :D

Anyway, I just watched Cadillac Man today. Man, it's been many years since I saw that, but it's hilarious!

I just returned from the theatre where I watched Avatar.

Three things it reminds me of: 'My friend the three', Star Wars Return of the Jedi and some eco-new-age mumbo jumbo. That said, it has terrific animations.

Never mind the story, the movie is quite entertaining.

I saw The good shepard. It was a good movie. Matt Damon is actually quite good in a passive and somber character.

Ragusa, the trailer made it look like a high-tech version of Disney's Pocahontas. Is that somewhat true?

(Man goes to new world to get raw materials, falls in love with native girl, tries to protect native tribe from his own people, etc)

Along that line, just way more visually spectacular.

Best joke in the movie :D The raw material they're after is the fabled 'Unobtainium' :shake:

She's 41? Wow, I thought she was just in her early 30's.

Just came back from Cameron's Avatar too. Have to agree with Ragusa, it's visually stunning. Aside from Star Wars and Pocahontas, you can throw in Matrix Revolution and Beastmaster into the mix. It's worth watching, I saw it on regular so I thinking the 3D would have to it doubly stunning.

Did James Cameron seriously name it "Unobtanium?!" That sounds like something out of a B-grade Sci-Fi (the channel) movie, not a 350 million epic.

Just as an aside, the Sci-Fi channel has been renamed SyFy for some time now. No idea why.

Oh yeah, I had forgotten. I think it was something about trying to dissociate themselves from the negative 'nerd' connotations of Science Fiction. Not sure how SyFy does that... looks like it should be pronounced 'siffy.'

SyFy? That's the most preposterous name for a channel... It's even worse than Unobtainium as far as names are concerned.

Just watched The Birds... errr, come on Hitchcock, you can do better than that.

Now I know why horror and comedy are such close genres.

Have you seen High Anxiety, Saber?

If you haven't, it is Mel Brooks take on Hitchcocks movies. Hilarious! :D
