    Not The Sting -- that's a bit too recent for this one.

    Edit: A hint is in order... The movie is a comedy with one of the greatest actors of all time as the lead. He never received an Oscar for any performance -- the Academy did give him a lifetime achievement award (and he gave the best acceptance speech I've ever heard or read).

    Right timeframe and right actor -- there's a really big hint in the husband's line above.

    As Mr. Blandings? No offense meant to anyone but "Blandings" sounds like a.. sub-urban, volvo-driving old white guy. A.. Mr. Rogers kinda guy :D Kinda like your Avatar but with less facial hair JSBB :p

    Well, I'll check it out if it looks worth the time. Right now I still haven't seen this new video my mom got. "Into the Sun". Steven Seagal's a yakuza-trained bad-ass who opens up a can of whoop-ass in asia ;)

    Blanding's it is (the name is supposed to conjure that image).

    It's a fun movie (you need to realized $15,000 dollars was A LOT of money back then -- equivalent to at least $500,000 today).

    Grant had a number of really good comedies -- Bringing Up Baby, Philadelphia Story, Father Goose, and Arsenic and Old Lace are probably the best. Arsenic and Old Lace was shown in the local high school, the kids all thought the movie was going to be a dud because it was B&W. By the end of the movie many were almost falling out of their chairs laughing.

    All of his Hitchcock movies are great.
