    How about a plant? Many plants are self-fertilizing, thus mother and father, but they neither give birth or nurse their offspring. They never wander, being rooted in one place, but are only still if there is absolutely no wind.

    Ok, here goes.

    There's something of a language component to this one, but I have another if you can't get it.

    No, I just got onto riddles through the riddle game in The Hobbit. Nothing Tolkein related, but he did love languages and, as I said, there is a language component, but really I just love Tolkein. Him and C.S. Lewis. Man can they write!

    Think of words ending in -GRY. Angry and hungry are two of them. There are only three words in the English language. What is the third word? The word is something that everyone uses every day. If you have listened carefully, I have already told you what it is.

    Language is correct. But as the real riddle went "in the common tounge", my answer is "tounge", which is incorrect since you altered the riddle. Bah!

    Saber - read the real words of the riddle. It's a total misdirection with the "gry" part having nothing to do with the actual question.

    Anyway, Susipaisti goes (with a nod to Bahir as there are many versions of this riddle).
