Jon Irenicus wasn't exactly the most brilliant and well-written villain either. I think Warner's voice carried the whole character. He's just very good at making otherwise ordinary characters seem legitimately sinister. Same sort of thing with Tony Jay's work on the Transcendent One.

Eternal Darkness is the Lovecraft-inspired game, right? I ought to try that.

Irenicus isn't really... "sinister" though Warner did a GREAT job with his voice. He's tormented and obsessed and has nothing left but that grab at power.

And I've seen Tron like 10 times, but I wasn't even 12 yet, so like I had no idea what was going on. More like an acid trip than anything else... I'm going to rent it tomorrow just to check out this Warner character.

That would be what I said.

Lovecraft, Clark Ashton-Smith, Edgar Allen Poe, etc. It's worth playing for fans of horror, good games.

If anyone happens to be interested....David Warner, a/k/a, Irenicus, did a movie I forgot all about, and it is a very interesting one at that, his character sounds just like Irenicus (and it must be his normal speaking voice). I would think Sci-Fi fans just might like this movie.

David Warner had one of the starring roles in a 1979 movie opposite Malcom McDowell, called Time After Time. McDowell plays turn of the century writer H.G Wells, who while writing hs famous story The Time Machine, actually builds one. Set in the late 1880's, another "famous" Londoner finds out about Wells' machine and decides to use it to escape being persued by Scotland Yard. Warner plays Jack the Ripper, who sends himself into then (1979) modern day New York. Wells, realizing his machine has been used, follows him . Mary Steenburgen (Ted Danson's wife), also stars in this movie. It was a trip to watch and see Jack the Ripper with the same voice as Irenicus.

    Hello -

I'm suprised to see that Kath Soucie hasn't gotten more than a brief mention here. She's a very prolific voice actor whose work I constantly seem to bump into.

For the computer gamers out there, she also voiced the evil female Jedi sub-boss in Jedi Knight II (can't recall the name).

She is also Jetta on Clifford, and the bunny on the Clifford-as-a-puppy show.

She is most recognizable when she voices great emotion. I connected her JKII performance to Aerie after I beat her in the 1-on1 lightsaber fight -- Aerie shines right through in her plea for mercy.

Anyway, since I started focusing on her, she always seems to be turning up.
