No Halloween here, sadly enough. Although it is something of an excuse for teenagers to party, no trick orr treating as far as i am aware of.

Might just get some candy ready just in case... and wear a costume because I like those.

I heard a story once about some local trouble making teenagers that used to tip over outhouses every Hallowe'en. They got everyone but htis one old farmer that would sit in there all night with a shotgun loaded with rock salt. One year they decided to get a running start, figuring that he'd only get one of them. That was the year he moved the outhouse back five feet...

I can picture a group of teens running full tilt at an outhouse and crashing into before they were ready to push. OUCH

I have a good Halloween souvenir popping into my mind. If I remember well, it was... 9 years ago. We were jus banging at doors, and I remember someone giving me and friends a pack of ramen noodles each. T'was weird. Sadly, it was shrimp ramen... which I totally dislike. Well, it was an original treat idea. :D

Back in Argentina, 3 years back I was teaching at a private school, 4 years back we knew about Halloween just in movies, so nobody, even me, didn't know what Halloween was about and we didn't even care or even knew the day it was celebrated; but somewhere in the middle, Arcor and other candy big companies started to announce new products "to 'celebrate' Halloween the way should be" :hmm:
So that week started on monday with kids asking me a free thursday so they can make their costumes and of course with me saying: WHAT??? NO WAY!, tuesday with kids asking the same and me saying the same, wednesday with parents sending me notes saying kids deserved that free day to do the costumes and me saying almost no f...g way so the thursday (Halloween was friday) kids came with their parents, after the flag song kids went inside and I got surrounded by angry parents, all of them with costumes things in their hands and zombie like faces 'asking' me to allow their kids to do their wish; so I took them into the classroom, parents thought they won so when they were all together inside I said: "IF anybody tells me what this celebration is about or means in our traditions and why we should celebrate it, I let them do their costumes."
So I ended hated by parents because they didn't have time (never have for important things) in their houses to dedicate to their sons because they wanted to celebrate a foreign celebration but when Dia de la Raza or another traditional holyday days were next, nobody care about them.

Well, there's no halloween tradition here, also. (Except for the abominable band 'Helloween')

We have the 'Walpurgisnacht' on April 30th for those who want to celebrate their 'heathen' festivals. ;)
There is no candy, but you may jump through a fire, if you want.

Halloween does exist, but it is mainly a celebration for those who sell merchandise. Fortunatly, the trend to copy every festival which comes from the US (Mother's Day, Valentine Day, Halloween) subsides now.
No irritating kids ringing at my door anymore. Finally

Halloween is a non-event in New Zealand. The only thing (other than this thread) that even reminds me that it is on is the plethora of Simpsons Treehouse of Horror re-runs that are on TV at the moment.

No way would I let my kids go around knocking on strangers' doors begging for sweets.
