Sniper, Cocaine is coca leaves mashed and turned into a powder form. Crack cocaine is "heated" with baking soda that somewhat solidifies it. Crack cocaine is also smoked as opposed to snorted or taken intravenously.

Crack cocaine *supposedly* gives a more intense stimulation to the drug experience in comparison with it's original form.

EDIT: Gnolyn, I know your edit wasn't in there when I posted this. :p

HOLY COWW! I spelled 'cow' right there with two w's to unveil my journalistic talent for spotting shitsmears in journalism. Mind my Scottish.

All I can say (not really) is that the first boy who quit his job and all that crap to play Everquest and then shot him-self probably was dying of some kind of veneral disease caused by Obese Ugly Sweaty Nagging Controlling Mother syndrome, something many gamers have accomplished in long lives of social-blame. Although he may have been older, as we and Oprah know,

    Quotes of the Day:

"...young teens have a tendency to shoot themselves over their parents' problems and sometimes this can hurt the parents and that's really what we're caring about cause he's not getting any deader so let's make an extra buck off this fat woman to have on the show she's pretty greasy but everyone else is and realism matters, realism matters - say, I bet that game's sent by Satan we ought to talk about that today hmm and influential computerization wow the guy who wrote this author was such a little dear..."

"...and we all understand how stupid gamers are. Hah! Have you ever seen one? They stink and they don't have jobs so they can pay ten bucks a month for Ultima Ass Scent Shun or something like that. I mean jeez. What kind of fool idiot devotes his life to a monitor screen instead of playing football like me and my sisters did when we were young lads..."

"...Oooh look a nerd lets throgh our food at it. Rrr..."

And so, as you see, quotes of the world are varied in many ways, as is the African Tree Frog of Great Britain. Uhh... oh yeah, I'm supposed to bash Everquest fans. Everquest sucks and its designers are homicidal grease-balls! You are all MURDERERS!!!

    [IMG] You're right Xenecor:
Crack is a result of the reaction of cocaine mixed with baking soda under heat. The highly addictive effect comes from a chemical change during that reaction process - the end product is a cocaine base (iirc, I haven't had chemistry for about 7 years ...) that can be absorbed much faster by the body than cocaine and is chemically it more addictive, or let's say: even more toxic than cocaine.

The way of consumption, afaik inhalative, also adds up to that since the lungs are able to absorb more than the classical nose. That's all I remember from my "Forensic medicine for lawyers" lecture. ;)

[IMG] I haven't completely read the article there, but it sounds like a loser of a case. From a products liability standpoint, I don't see much in the way of negligence on behalf of the manufacturer, and I don't see any other real negligence either.
Oh well, I'm sure there's more than a few sharp plaintiff's lawyers in Milwaukee, so here's how it'll go. The plaintiff's guys will sue for everything in every concievable venue, and then the game publisher will hire some huge mega firm. The plaintiff lawyers will create some kind of case and the firm will bill many hours for having a small army research and write memos to each other. In the end, the game maker will spend so much on the mega-firms mega services, they might rather settle for something less than what they might spend but more than what might be awarded the plaintiff at trial. Meanwhile the plaintiff's lawyer has been busy settling other cases and making bank and forgot all about this case until he gets a call from the game company or their insurance company to negotiate a settlment for something and they do. Who's the winner in the whole scenario? The plaintiff's lawyer!

Did none of the news reporters catch the part where it says that he is (summarized) very mentally and physically disable. I can't believe some idiot would actually think that it was the game fault. Ridiculous!
