US tries 'non-aggression' tactics

    Secretary Ragusa -- that was a very nice writing on the state of the union in Iraq. ;) But you totally missed my point -- we're talking about 2 different things here....when I said that the overall objective of the war was getting Bin Laden, but that we were sidetracked -- I was talking about the war on terror OVERALL and meant that Iraq was the sidetrack (to make up for the blunders in tracking Bin Laden). I still believe that.

    Secretary Ragusa? I refuse that title - that would imply that everything I say means the reverse - the U.S. are NOT winning ... repeat: NOT ...

    As for believing that Iraq was the sidetrack to getting Bin Laden, I envy you for your optimism :p I would be able to agree if you mean Iraq was an unneccesary distraction from trying to get Bin Laden ...

    :mommy: You don't really suggest the political folks in Whitehouse or Pentagon are actually acting 'rational' or, worse, prudent ?! :mommy:

    Oh that's always been my stand. The invasion of Iraq was nothing more than a stop-gap measure to take American's minds off of the colossal failure in tracking our recent Public Enemy #1 (and the oil didn't hurt. ;) ). Unnecessary?? -- Absolutely -- I've always thought it to be a huge waste of time and resources. Not that Saddam was lily white -- he wasn't....but he was never part of our original objective to begin with -- it was something to deter American disappointment and irritation over the aforementioned failures.

    I really agree with the tenor of this comment. But I think they were planning Iraq way before 9/11. It just provided them with the golden opportunity. George II and Karl Rove are the ultimate opportunists. George was also lying through his teeth when he commented to the American people (during the Gore-Bush debates) that he had no interest in "nation building." These guys really see this has an "imperial presidency." As Regusa correctly points out, they really are from "Mars." And they devoutly worship their "god."

    Anyway, I'd welcome an effort to lower violence in Iraq, we'll see how it goes on from here.
