Definitely *not* a Weird Al Yankovic work; . He's a very clean-living guy (I hear he's quite religious, goes to the Unitarian church every week) and refused a hefty endorsement offer from a beer company because he doesn't want to be associated with intoxicants. So singing about drugs would be totally unacceptable for him. Ditto the songs referring explicitly to sex.

I went to the "Bad Hair Day" concert and was the only adult woman in the audience who was not there escorting her children. Good thing I had a really young date or I'd have been embarrassed.

 

Now that's funny, Sprite, because when I went to his concert, there were many people my age there. Heck, I even dragged my 47 year old mom with me, and she was not the oldest person there! I live in a college town, at that.

 

Maybe his audience demographic is different in Canada (specifically, this concert was in Winnipeg, where he bought Harvey the Wonder Hamster!). Next time, I'll go in your town instead. Be my date?

 

Weird Al is great! My favourite song is "The night Santa went Crazy" really funny! "Livin' in the fridge" is pretty cool as well, but his videos are the really funny stuff. Like "Fat", really cool.

I had always thought of myself as ambivilant about Weird Al, until I went to his website and realized I like most of what he's done. Wow.

 

I've always liked "The night Santa went crazy! The Night St. Nick went insane!"

 

my favorite was "(I got a funny feeling that) You Don't Love Me Anymore".
first time i heard it i thought it was one hell of a ballad, only to realized later on how "crazy" the song actually was.

 

Is that the one where he says again and again he'd rather (X) "than to spend...one more minute... with you"? I think that's another, ahh, nice ballad, of his.

 

There's that one "Those were the good old days", it's a ballad as well, and it's pretty funny...

BTW. What is his real name and where is he from? Cus i have friend named Jankovic (which pronounces like "Yankovich"). And Yankovich IMHO doesn't sound very American.

 

He's from Lynwood, California. Where his family is from is another question- maybe someone should email to ask him.

 

Al's real name is Alfred Matthew Yankovic.

Al grew up in Lynwood, California (a suburb of Los Angeles), although the hospital he was actually born in was in the neighboring town of Downey.

Al's grandparents on his father's side were Yugoslavian, and on his mother's side they were Italian and English.

I'm not exactly a fan, but I like his songs... I love The Saga Begins, even if I have only heard it twice in my life.

The first time I ever heard it was in one of the coolest parties in my entire life... *sigh*
