Bucks County is rife with Revolutionary (and before) history. There's also a lovely stretch of the Delaware Canal that's been preserved as a park, and George Washington crossed into Trenton for his famous battle with the Hessians not far from where I live.

More contemporarily, there's a Sesame Street themed amusement park about 15 minutes from my house and a great little town that's turned itself into an artists' colony and restaurant haven.

Also, all the historical and cultural treasures of Philadelphia are only an hour away.

Well, we have a 15th century church 10 km outside of town. It and the church-village (direct translation) is on the world inheritance list. [joke]That's the only thing that's kept me from burning it [/joke]

Well...I'm staying in one of the most remotest suburbs of Sydney...so you COULD say my habitat IS Sydney per se....

If you want the highlights of Sydney...you gotta be joking...everyone knows them already. ;)

Well, my hometown is the largest town in the world :D It was a muncipality till last January, when it became a town, and thus, in sheer square footage, is the largest town in the worlfd.

Heck, the only places larger when measured thus are London and Tokyo :D

Thus, the area has the south-most "tunturi" (bigger than a hill, smaller than a mountain... any help from the rest of the natives?) in FInland, and is famous for it's nature and stuff.

    *shudder*

I'll stop quoting the travel brochures now.

Well, normally people come to visit Utrecht because of it's historical sightings (the history goes all the way back to the Roman Empire), but the present pride and joy of the locals is without a doubt the local F.C. who are kicking everyone's butt at the moment. :D

    @ Arabwel
Those are possibly the most pathetic statements on a travel brochure I have ever heard :p
Just the same as saying "We are the largest town/village in the world!" is probably just the same as saying "We are the smallest City in the world!" and pretty much the same with the mountain/hill checkpoint. A mountain is basically a bloody great big hill, whereas a hill is a pretty damn small mountain.

    No offence :p

    Arabwel: Fjeld, i think.

    Highlights around Ikaalinen?
There are _no_ highlights around here. The nature is wonderful, there aren't many people around and tourists are rare. Nice and peaceful. :p

In Birmingham there is a street in the city with loads and loads of nightclubs with many thousands of sexy ladies every night. That is the only highlight.

Beirut. Highlights are, well... err... nothing :(

There's the roman baths in downtown. Don't know how much of a tourist attraction you'd consider them though.

The biggest highlights of my town are: Nieuwe Kerk, this is the church where almost all the royals are buried since Prince William of Orange was assassinated, also in Delft(wow, what a coincidence) at the Prinsenhof , and the badguy Balthasar Gerards was held up in the Stadhuis (still used as the Cityhall) and then suffered brutal punishment at the market  which was the biggest show we had in 500 years. :p

On a sidenote, the most important visitor was Bill Clinton  (nah, it was Napoleon) anyways he ate some pancakes at a restaurant and soon after you could get rolled up pancakes stuffed with cream there, and yeah you needed to suck the cream out

Well, we have a nude beach right in the middle of the City – great for sightseeing!

And don’t forget about our big casino, where the house odds are so low, nobody has ever lost any money; in fact, most people at least double their money.

Then there’s the road course where you can rent your choice of a brand new exotic sports car (Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, etc.) for $10/hour, and race around the course. No minimum age, either.

And of course, there’s the government-funded gaming centre, where you can buy any video game available on the market, and pay only $1 for it.

Or you can come and see me – the person in charge of telling whatever lies are necessary to increase tourism. :p

Yeah but just make sure to wait until January before you go see Splunge. That way you can enjoy the best of the nice weather that Manitoba has to offer. ;)

Abomination - Auckland has tonnes of great highlights besides the Sky Tower (one of the tallest buildings in the Southern Hemisphere) and the volcanoes! I truly believe that Auckland Zoo is one of the best in the world and I've been to Toronto Zoo, London Zoo (ugh), San Diego Zoo, Singapore Zoo, that zoo in Sydney, and a cool animal park in England's Lake District. Auckland Zoo rocks, but it is about 25km south of my habitat so I didn't mention it before.

And what about Auckland's harbour? Auckland is not called the City of Sails for nothing (highest level of boat ownership per capita of any city in the world). Your city rules, Abomination.

Yeah the Skytower is great, it may not be as tall as the CN Tower but you sure as hell can't jump off of the CN tower's observation deck. For that matter I don't think we would allow people to jump off of the underside of a traffic bridge either. :)

Well, all sorts of zany things happen in New Zealand. :spin:

And Rally! You have a Sesame Street theme park?! How cool is that! I have to go there one day. Unless it's really bad, that is.

It's a freeking harbour HB! If I wanted to see an amazing harbour I would go to Sydney. There are better zoos than Auckland Zoo and it's not exactly a reason why tourist flock to New Zealand.

We DO have legal brothels though, just like Absterdam without the used needles in the street (well, sometimes).

Exactly where is there a zoo that is much better than Auckland's zoo? It doesn't matter if it doesn't cause tourists to flock here (judging by the state of some of the 'highlights' in this thread........)

And don't ever let me hear you say anything bad about our harbours ever again! :p
