'Polska' is the name of the country. It can be used as a genus femininum adjective in our language, but always followed by a noun in the same genus. The latter construction is considered redundant when used to describe one's nationality.

Gotta be better than 'Sheep-shagging inbreeds'. Us Englishers don't have much imagination when it comes to Wales. It's so hard to make things up

 

@Silvery, never call someone from the south a "yank"! If my sweet baby girl was called that the war would be on. :-) I howerver being born in California have more tolerance. That would be one of the nicer things I have been called once in a while. Yanks are northerners like my mom.

 

A question about Denmark. Is the Krone abbreviated as DKK or DKR? Currency sites listed it as DKK but some 'Dansker' I've correspond with uses DKR. Is one wrong or both acceptable?

"Yank" was supposedly a term applied to the colonists by the British during the Revolution. The colonists took it as a compliment and kept it. These days it is typicially from one of the original 13 colonies in the New England region.

In the South, anyone from outside the region is a "yankee" and in Texas, they call everyone who is not a native Texan a "yankee," even people from Canada, or Europe. Those "Texans" just tend to be farily ignorant.

 

Dorset has a term like that: Grockle, sometimes shortened to Grock. It refers to someone from outside the area. Used to be a neutral term but has become negative after a lot of tourist destruction in areas. Including an old region of one of the local towns which had the old pottery and many family businesses was bought out and replaced with unaffordable housing. A one roomed, small, flat selling for over a million pounds simply because it has a sea view. It's very sad.

Between Dorset and Hampshire there's the rivalry that has sprouted Hampshire Hog and Dorset Dog terms.

I, personally, still refer to Cornwall as Kernow, on my last visit there I tried to pick up more of the language as well.

My family sometimes refer to the branch that moved to Ireland as 'The Paddys'

I'd like to learn the Roma, Welsh, Cornish and Gaelic languages of the UK but finding resources on them is a right pain in the arse. Tempted by spanish too but that's more an interest in finding out more about my family history, same as the other languages pretty much.
