I was playing Jade Empire but I got discouraged when I tried to kill a bunch of elephant demons over and over and just got stomped on ... so I took a break from that game.

I've been occupied the last week with a silly game called Hide and Secret. Its one of those games where you have to search the picture they give you for objects. The game is strangely addicting - probably just because there is a time limit involved and its fun to beat the time record.

I played and finished Secret of the Silver Blades and Pools of Darkness, so I can now proudly say I've played the entire Gold Box series. I wasn't too impressed with the later games though. Silver Blades is pure hack and slash (not to mention insanely linear), and Pools of Darkness had great potential but was just too damn hard and frustrating to really enjoy.

I'm not sure what to play next. I'm thinking of going through the Krynn trilogy, but I feel I need a break first.

@Ziad: that was fast! Pools of Darkness was hard... hate those lightning shielded guys and the bigger Bits of Moander. Did you remember to try the challenge dungeon after the end of the game?

@Blog: I blasted through Silver Blades in just a couple of days, as it's pretty linear and I kept saving and restoring to avoid the dull-as-anything random encounters. Pools of Darkness was hard! Those blue Minions of Bane were a pain and kept throwing Lightnings all over the place. I did try the killer dungeon and have to admit I had to resort to cheating to complete it. I did most of it by just being very careful, but the last 2 back-to-back fights are impossibly difficult.

I started Champions of Krynn today. I think I'm becoming addicted to the old SSI games :)

Sid Meier should be required to put a clock on the screen for all his games...

Pirates is as addictive as the Civ games...

I cheated through Discworld. Quite funny, but too frustrating to solve some of the puzzles. Nice to see all the story book characters portrayed in graphics.

Agreed with Gnarf, I was up until 2am continuing on with Colonization.

Ziad, I didn't beat some of those final battles either (i ran around a corner and kept guarding). But someone did... I believe he created a thread in this forum and asked about something or other. You can look forward to another challenge dungeon at the end of Death Knights, not impossible, that one :) There's also a thread on Champions of Krynn I recall, asking about party composition if you need advice. Draconians are way cool!

Civ IV: Beyond the Sword baby!

I love the new Exspionage system. Used properly, it can help you keep up in the tech race or protect a lead by stealing the tech the AI won't trade or is hoping to get your techs for. No more requests for an important tech for something that doesn't matter...
