Discworld Noir? Takara, this is a nice touch. I didn't think anyone else would like the combination of film noir and discworld. Well done!

Apart from that: System Shock. Most other games have been mentioned already.

Some of these are a little long in the tooth - but I am giving them a ranking on how many hours I reckon I've put in them at the time, Far cry is obviously a better game than Doom but not when you consider when Doom was realeased.

Heroes of M&M 3 (with expansions)
Championship Manager 3 (up till CM4)
    Civ 2
    Morrowind (with expansions)
    Medieval Total War
    Doom
    X-com Enemy Unknown
    Baldurs Gate 2
    Half Life
    Far Cry

If all formats were included I would move all of the above down at least 3 places for the likes of Elite(c64), Pirates(c64) and last but possibly the best of the lot Chaos on the spectrum (this was a precursor for Lords of Chaos and the X-com series).

    01 Wizard's Crown (C-64)

    02 Baldur's Gate I (PC)

    03 RISK II (PC)

    04 Axis & Allies (PC)

    05 Air Combat NAMCO (PS1)

    06 Battle Arena Toshinden (PS1)

    07 Wing Commander (PS1)

    08 Cool Borders (PS1)

I've played others but I wouldn't put them on a top ten list...

I don't even know if I can pick 10 PC Games, as I am more of a console gamer than a PC gamer. =o

    1. Baldur's Gate 2
    2. Baldur's Gate + Tales of the Sword Coast
    3. Half - Life 2
    4. Dues Ex
    5. Starcraft
    6. Icewind Dale
    7. Half-Life
    8. System Shock 2
    9. Planescape: Torment (unfinished)
    10. TIE Fighter

Hey, I managed it. I could have included KOTOR 1 + 2, since they are on the PC, but I played them on my Xbox. Fantastic games.

This is in no particular order:

    Baldur's Gate II +ToB
    World of Warcraft
Warcraft III + TFT (more for story than the RTS gameplay)
Diablo II (Don't play it anymore, but it kept my attention for a looong time)
    Diablo (See above)
    StarCraft

All I can think of for favorites at the moment. BG1 would be on there, but I never got past chapter 2 or 3 (having played BG2 before I tried BG1, there seemed little to discover), and so would KOTOR (probably) but at this time my computer is too horrible to run it.

Hmm... A tough one this, because I'd love to include Halo 1/2, having played them so damn much on the Xbox! Nevertheless (in attempted Best - Worst order), here goes:

    </font>
    1. BG II - I've logged more hours on this than can possibly be healthy
    2. Planescape: Torment - in terms of plot & characterisation, simply peerless
    3. Thief - 100% responsible for my backstab obsession :D
    4. BG 1 - More freeform than 2, but not as polished.
    5. Ultima VII - more adventure than RPG, but still a stone-cold classic
    6. Doom I/II - no other game(s) (except maybe Halo) do all-out scraps with quite the same ... je ne sais quoi
    7. Half-life - love those NHS-specs!
    8. X-Wing - great mission design + most authentic Star Wars atmosphere of any space flighty/shooty game ever
    9. Diablo - great horror atmosphere, and more fun than its sequel, somehow...
    10. Quake - odd choice perhaps, but Nitemare-difficulty speed runs still make me do this:
Plus, there's probably some Honourable Mentions I've not got room for, such as IceWind Dale. And Deus Ex is in the post, so I'll have to do a re-think then, maybe...

Oh my, is it That Time again?
Ratings are based upon amount of time spent on the game and general enjoyment.
Okays, here goes, in no particular order:

Deus Ex (the first one): a great RPG and a great FPS. One could fully remove either aspect, and it'd still be a very good game on it's other genre. I could write novels full of praise for this one.

Quake 3: great LAN game. Very intensive, great pace, real heartstopper.

Baldurs Gate 1: My first RPG. I had a blast, and still love remembering it fondly.

    Baldurs Gate 2: C'mon, it's BG2. 'nuff said.

Starcraft (+ Broodwar exp.): A truely great RTS game, Starcraft is, in terms of creative merit and simple 'enjoyment', still the standard to which all else strives. Just buy this game people!

Heroes of Might & Magic I & III: HoMM1 was amongst the first games that I played, and both these games are excellent TBS games with which I've spent a LOT of my childhood.

Civilization 3: a great TBS that can take days, weeks, even MONTHS off your hands.

Medieval: Total War: another very good TBS which allows for much well-spent time. A single game can take dozens if not hundreds of hours.

Disciples: a neat RPG / TBS hybrid game, dripping w/ athmosphere, fun to play, bit short though.

Planescape Torment: a true masterpiece of RPG'ishness. Personally, it might be a Grand game, but it's definitely a Grand RPG. It has an interesting storyline, a fascinating setting, GREAT character customizing options, great NPC's, funky quests... One of the (if not the) finest RPGs I've ever played.

    Honourable mentions:
Medal of Honour Allied Assault (and both expansions, Spearhead and Breakthrough) [FPS].
Knights of the Old Republic [RPG].
Age of Wonders II & Age of Wonders Shadow Magic [TBS].
Max Payne [FPS]. (game's SHORT. Don't pay full price for this)
Morrowind (and both expansions, Tribunal and Bloodmoon) [RPG].
Both Vampire the Masquerade games [RPG].

And then there are many more which were also enjoyable, but these are all games 'with merit'. Buy any and/or all of them, and you probably won't be disappointed (unless, of course, you dislike the genre as a whole  )

    :borg:

    EDIT: misspellings.
