Non Sequitor: I thought the cartoon was highly distasteful. I think that the Austrailians will be a model example to Muslims around the world on the proper way to deal with such degradations. I don't think that Austrailians will be blowing up embassies or anything like that...

Gnarf: While many muslims felt offended by the mohammed caricatures, the mobs attacking western embassies were directed by the respective governments.

I thought this would be common knowledge by now.

@Non Sequitur: John Howard is not a revered figure and prophet for millions and millions of people all across the globe, last time I checked...

@ Gnarff: Sadly, it wasn't. Couldn't find an image, but I had hoped for a better response. Perhaps ignoring it as the work of a disgruntled and inflammatory few would have been better than a tit-for-tat and unoriginal response.

EDIT: Found a picture of the response cartoon.

@ Faraaz: Well, can't argue with you there - I could offer a counterargument, but it'd be in jest and probably breaking half-a-dozen forum rules. I did say as much earlier - the Liberal Party rooms and econo-liberals around the globe notwithstanding.

I still think that it's the same principle, only applied on a smaller scale (and IMO, a fair bit more degrading). That doesn't put the prophet cartoons or the canine buggery cartoons in any better light, though.
